LuVerne Kloss, born May 17, 1921, went to be with the Lord on July 2, 2010.Survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Thomas Kloss, her five childrenand their spouses, grand and great grandchildren, Tim and Frances Kloss Chris Sipes; Todd and Lynn Kloss Taylor & Mark Weeks and Travis Kloss; Terry and Barney Tearney Brett & Starre Tearney and Bryce Tearney; Tina and Mario Roth Micah & Elizabeth Wrase, Ethan, Luke, Addison & Olivia; Ben & Cassie Wrase, Grace, Jonah & Oliver; Jessica and Reed Milliken; Kristen Wrase; Rachel Roth, Memphis; Brandon & Elisa, Hunter; Trudy and Steve Grothues Holly & Heather. Lu was recently preceded in death by her sister, Dianne Touch and is also survived by her brother, Harold Hawkins, sisters, Rachel Jones, Patricia Cook, and Lynn Hawkins. As in many families there are many more extended family members and friends that are close to our hearts at this time. Lu was originally from Minnesota, but always said she moved to Texas just as fast as she could and did so in 1951. She always loved horses and big dogs and so finding a place to accommodate her love of nature, animals, and a great place to raise her children was a dream and a priority. After moving to the country in 1953 they started the Kloss Egg Ranch. It was a difficult business and they eventually decided it would be more satisfying to raise children than chickens since they already had five of their own. They started Suburban Child Care/Happy Acres Day Camp in 1963 and over the years all five children helped in that venture. They retired in January of 1984 and the school lives on under Terry and Barney's care. Mom loved camping on the beach in Port Aransas, hiking in the mountains, and spending time at their place on Lake Dunlap. She especially loved their condo in Ruidoso, NM where she enjoyed watching the hummingbirds battle and shopping in the little town. Her knowledge regarding wildflowers, trees, and birds was amazing. When she was able, mom planned all of our family gatherings with Christmas being her favorite. No one could decorate like she could! All of these things she greatly enjoyed sharing with family and friends. We will miss her dearly, but we will always be grateful for the wonderful memories. Not long after moving to Oakland Estates they helped to found Oxford United Methodist Church and were active members throughout the years. In lieu of flowers, if you should desire, a donation can be made to a memorial fund in Lu's name at Oxford located at 9655 Huebner Road, 78240. You are also invited to attend a gathering at Frances and Tim's home which was Lu and Tom's previous home at 5335 Encino Park Road at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 18th.
