Maria de la Luz Lopez was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 11, 2006. She was born on May 29, 1927, in Kenedy, TX. Preceded in death by her parents, Margarita and Juan Sanchez her siblings, Seferino, Manuel, Francisco, Jose Maria Mata, Jesusa Ramos and Reynaldo Sanchez, two children: Tomasita and Jesus Lopez, three grandchildren: Rosario Garcia, Elizabeth Gonzales and Benjamin Lopez. She married her beloved Tomas C. Lopez on August 16, 1943 in Robstown, TX. She and Mr. Lopez raised their children in Corpus Christi, TX and became residents of San Antonio in 1984. Affectionately known as Ama, she was a homemaker all of her life and an encourager who taught her family to love one another. She lead by example in teaching her family the importance of being there and praying for each other. Ama was the best tortilla-maker and cook of Mexican food. She loved playing Mexican Bingo at home surrounded by her children and she never missed a Spurs game. A love letter to their mother from her children: mama, has dedicado tu vida eterna a la familia. Eres madre, amiga y maestra de tus hijos. Has guiado nuestros pasos e invertido tu gran cariño en cada uno de nosotros. Tu has sido, y sigues siendo, nuestro tesoro mas preciado. Gracias por amarnos, aconsejarnos y guardarnos siempre en tu corazon. Con todo cariño tu familia. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Tomas, daughters: Maria Saul Gonzales, Leandra Sam Garza, and Sylvia Breland all of San Antonio, TX, Alicia Ed Jones of Lytle, TX, Tomasa L. Garcia, Catalina Carlos Gonzales, and Maria Guadalupe Richard Olivarez all of Corpus Christi, TX, Eva L.Luis Mayorga of Greenfield, CA, sons: Tomas Lopez, Jr., Jesse Sandra Lopez and Antonio Lopez of San Antonio, TX, sisters: Consuelo Sanchez of Greely, CO and Refugia Rivera of Corpus Christi, 33 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, 1 great great-grandchild, numerous step grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews.
