Tributes

Lynette Watkins DeGrace was born December 20, 1929 at the Baptist Hospital, San Antonio Texas to Paul Watkins and Edith Eldridge Watkins. She died at home Sunday evening September 27, 2015. Lynette was a Texas girl through and through, went to school in Corpus Christi, graduated from the old Brackenridge High School in San Antonio, and was proud Purple Jacket. Not long after graduation she married and began caring for her growing family. Over the years, she gave to the San Antonio community by participating in the PTA, school newspaper drives and fund raisers, the March of Dimes, Girl Scout troops and Boy Scout troops. She contributed to the San Antonio Symphony, KPAC Classical Music station, the McNay, San Antonio piano and keyboard societies and many local community arts programs. She was a benefactor donor to the Santa Rosa Children's Hospital. She campaigned for Richard Nixon and had her picture taken with Nancy Reagan at the White House. A music lover from Childhood, Lynette took piano lessons both early and late in life and always had a grand piano in her living room. In her mid-life she graduated from a private course at St Mary's University in Interior Design. This background was put to good use later on in many projects; one of her proudest and happiest time were spent on a home and ranch in Medina County that she built and designed from the ground up. She was a world traveler and owned a house on the Costa Brava in Spain. She loved Andorra and tapas, collected and studied antique furnishings, was the historian of the family, adored John Cleese in Fawlty Towers, read Antonia Fraser, loved classical guitar, especially the Romero's, maintained an orchid greenhouse, and was overjoyed with her new found ability to send text message. She is predeceased by her mother and father, Edith and Paul Watkins, and son Rocky Ingram. She is survived by her spouse, Julia DeGrace, her children, Hudson Ingram and wife Diane, Arnette Permberton, Wes Ingram and wife Ann, and Troy Ingram, her grandchildren, Bryant, Xalli, Brandon, Bond, Fay, Bill, John, Carissa, several great-grandchildren, and three great great-grandchildren, her brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Nancy Watkins, and many, many friends.
