Orron Clinton "Mac" McRae August 15, 1934 – May 28, 2008 Orron Clinton "Mac" McRae, age 73, was called home by the Lord on Wednesday, May 28, 2008, with his family by his side. Our loving husband and father was born in Tahoka, Texas on August 15, 1935 to the late Orron Connally & Mary Sue Clinton McRae. Serving honorably as Sergeant Major in the United States Army, Mac did his tour of duties in the Korean War. Mac married the love of his life, Nell Tipton on August 16, 1960. Mac adored Nell and their favorite song was "Walk Through This World With Me", they enjoyed just that for 47 ½ wonderful years together. Their home was always filled with lots of love and laughter. A dirt contractor by trade, Mac owned and operated McRae Construction, Inc. for over 40 years. Highly respected in the business, he will be remembered for his strong work ethics and being a man of his word. Mac worked hard and played just as hard. His hobbies included fishing, hunting and golfing. He enjoyed travel with his family, movies, music and audio books. His love of life, sense of humor and quick wit will always be one of many values Mac a.k.a. Daddy, Pepa, Papaw, Pak and Burt will be remembered for. He always lived by his core values, integrity and excellence in everything he did. Mac was a devoted husband and family man with his wife and family being the most important treasure in his life. He will be remembered as an exemplar role model to his family and peers. Highly respected, he was a true friend to all the lives he touched. Mac always kept his humor and love of life, even as he battled the incurable Progressive Supranuclear Palsy that took his life. Mac's strength and love for his family preserved him through his long illness without any complaints. Mac was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather, W.B. Scott, brother, Tom McRae and infant son, Sean Michael McRae. His loving memory will be dearly cherished by his loving wife, Nell McRae of San Antonio; sons Mike McRae and wife, Debbie of Smithville, Texas, Rick McRae and wife, Jennifer of Kerrville, Texas, Cory McRae and wife Dawn of San Antonio; daughters Suzan McRae and friend Jerry Ochoa of San Antonio and Penci Petty and husband Steve of Gonzales, Texas; 19 grandchildren, 16 ½ great-grandchildren; sister Carol and sister-in-law Sandi of Granbury, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. The family received friends on Friday, May 30, 2008. The Reverend Charles Shockley officiated over services in celebration of Mac's life on Saturday, May 31, 2008 at Mission Park North Funeral Chapel in San Antonio, Texas.
