The family of Magdalena M. Tijerina celebrate the life of their beloved mother who dedicated her life to serving the Lord and nurturing her family with her unyielding love and dedication. Magdalena was born in Montemorelos, Nuevo León, Mexico. Her eldest grandson, Pablo Esteban Tijerina Chávez, comments, No nos podemos quejar de Nena que aquí cuidó sus amores. Toda una vida nos amó ella que ahora desde el cielo nos protege Magdalen. Dra. Lucía Alejandra Román Tijerina, granddaughter, notes, mi abuela era una mujer fuera de serie. a woman before her time. Even in her early youth, Magdalena demonstrated her ability to transcend her time and circumstance. In the 1930s and 40s, Magdalena pursued an education and worked at Cigarrera, La Moderna de Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico. Widowed with three young children, she successfully managed a clothing distributing company founded by her late husband. In the early 1960s, Magdalena transferred her company to her brothers. Once again, she reached beyond herself and immigrated to the United States with her three young children. In San Antonio, Magdalena at Esskey Manufacturing Co. & Fine Silver where like in Monterrey she made many lifelong friends. With great tenacity, she ensured that her children attained a good education and was very proud of all their accomplishments. Magdalena is remembered as a woman of great faith and strength and a dedicated loving mother and friend. Magdalena is preceded in death by her six brothers and sisters, her parents, Salvador Gustavo Mancillas Benavides and Ana Eudoxia Berlanga De La Cerda De Mancillas and her loving husband, Pedro Pablo Tijerina Pérez. She is survived by her three children, Martha Tijerina, Dr. Pablo Tijerina and wife Dra. Mary Chávez Tijerina from San Pedro Garza García, Nuevo León, Mexico. QFB San Juanita Chiquis Tijerina De Román and husband, Ingeniero Fernando Román Liévano from Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico: grandchildren, Pablo Esteban Tijerina Chávez, Dra. Lucía Alejandra Román Tijerina, Daniel Esteban Tijerina Chávez, Fernando De Jesús Román Tijerina. Funeral Services will be held at Mission Park Funeral Chapels and Cemeteries, 3401 Cherry Ridge S. A. TX. Visitation will begin on Wednesday, June 7, 2006 at 5 pm with a special prayer and blessing by Archbishop Emeritus, Patrick F. Flores, D.D. A rosary is schedule to commence at 6 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Archbishop Emeritus Flores and Msgr. Balthasar J. Janacek on Thursday, June 8, 2006 at 10 am at San Fernando Cathedral, San Antonio, Texas. The Tijerina family expresses their gratitude to Archbishop Emeritus Patrick F. Flores, and Msgr. Balthasar J. Janacek for their spiritual support and presence for so many years and in particular for their presence at the time of her peaceful death in her home. The family wishes to extend their heart felt appreciation to Mrs. Rebecca Becky Alemán for her love and assistance in the care of their beloved mother, Magdalena. The Tijerina Family sincerely thanks their friends for their love and support.
