Manuel Gilbert Martinez passed peacefully from this life on Friday January 2nd, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, humor, and unwavering love. Manuel lived with a gentle strength that touched every person blessed to know him. His heart was steady, his laughter genuine, and his loyalty to those he loved was constant and deeply felt. Manuel was preceded in death by his loving parents, Manuel S. “Buddy” Martinez and Mary Delores Plata Martinez, as well as his brother, Raymond Martinez, each of whom shaped his life in meaningful ways that he carried with him throughout his journey. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 23 years, Ruth Geathers Martinez, who was the center of his world and the greatest joy of his life. Their marriage was a true partnership—filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished moments. Manuel is also survived by his son, Terrence (and daughter-in-law Shannon), who brought pride and purpose to his life; his two wonderful grandchildren Teron and Kaden who lit up his world and filled his days with joy; his sister, Mary Ann (brother-in-law Julius Alvarez) and his sister-in-law Brenda Martinez, with whom he shared lifelong memories and deep family bonds; and his nephew David Martinez whom he cherished as a son (wife Michelle Martinez}. He also leaves behind five nieces and nephews that were all dear to him. Manuel cherished life’s simple and beautiful pleasures. He had a lifelong love for music, finding comfort in melodies that spoke to his soul. He delighted in good food, often sharing meals that brought people together in joy and fellowship. And more than anything, he valued spending time with his wife, whose companionship made every day brighter and more complete. Those who knew Manuel will remember his steady presence, his generous spirit, and the way he made everyone around him feel seen, valued, and loved. His life was a testament to kindness, and his memory will continue to live on in the stories, the laughter, and the love of the family and friends he leaves behind. Manuel will be deeply missed, forever cherished, and always remembered. SERVICES Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 beginning at 11:00am, followed by a chapel service at 12:00pm at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North.
