Manuel Everette Salazar passed away in peace at the age of 86 on September 2nd, 2023, in San Antonio, Texas. He was a husband of extraordinary character and a father and grandfather who loved his family more than all the drops in the oceans. Manuel had a beautiful loving heart who dearly loved the Lord, and our Blessed Mother Mary. He and his wife Eloise (Elly) lived a loving life together for 66 years, always placing their faith in God. Manuel had an illustrious 23 year career in the United States Air Force, retiring in 1979 as an E-9 Chief Master Sergeant. He then continued to serve his country by working as a civil servant at Randolph Air Force Base in the Office of Personnel and Management, fully retiring in 1995. Manuel was a very active member of his parish at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. He also loved attending and leading Rosary Services at our Lady of Lourdes Grotto where people would often approach him and his wife Elly with their sorrows and tribulations. With both their gentile and spirit-filled hearts, they shared the love of Jesus with everyone they met. Manuel was born on October 26th, 1936, in San Antonio, to Manuel Salazar and Genevieve Rodriquez. Mr. Salazar was preceded in death by his wife Eloise Salazar, his two sons, Arthur Myron Salazar and Gary Alexander Salazar, his daughter, Arlene Carol Salazar, his granddaughter Kristen Salazar and his sisters Genevieve S. Garza and Anna Marie Niedenthal. He is survived by his grandchildren, Michelle Wyatt (Greg), Jennifer Lee Nicewarner, Kelly Ann Sluder (Dusty), Eloise “Elly” Salazar; great-grandchildren, Haylee Wyatt, Leigha Sluder, Presley Bae Nicewarner, Breckyn Jett Nicewarner, Aidan James Nicewarner, Witten Nicewarner, and Lochlan Van Wallace. SERVICES Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2023, from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North. A memorial tribute will begin at 11:30 am on Friday, September 15, 2023, with the Rosary to be recited at 12:30 pm followed by a Mass at 1:00 pm at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, with full Air Force honors. A reception will follow at the reception hall at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
