Manuela I. Keyes (Josefina), a beloved mother, grandmother, and entrepreneur, passed away on April 23, 2023, at the age of 92. She was born in Mazatlán, Mexico in 1931 to Columba Aldana and Pascual Renteria, and was the eldest of four siblings. Manuela lived a full life and was devoted to her family. She married Thomas B. Keyes in 1970, and they were inseparable for 50 years until his passing in 2020. Manuela had six children from a previous marriage to Cesar Armando Fitch. Her children’s names are Cesar, Jorge, Carlos, Lorena, Johann, and Samuel, who were the light of her life. Manuela was a woman of many talents, having earned a degree in Chemistry, but her true passion was entrepreneurship. She owned clothing shops, hair salons, and art galleries (promoting San Antonio artists) throughout her life, and her hard work and dedication were an inspiration to those around her. She will be remembered for her warm smile, her kind heart, and her unwavering love for her family. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, always putting the needs of her loved ones before her own. Her legacy lives on through her children and grandchildren, who will never forget the lessons she taught them about the value of hard work, determination, and love. Her philosophy in life was to make friends and never to create enemies. Manuela’s passing is a great loss to her family and friends, but her memory will continue to be cherished by all those who knew her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Manuela I. Nació en Mazatlán, Sinaloa en 1931, hija de Columba Aldana y Pascual Rentería, y fue la mayor de cuatro hermanos. Manuela vivió una vida plena y estuvo dedicada a su familia. Se casó con Thomas B. Keyes en 1970, y estuvieron inseparables durante 50 años hasta su fallecimiento en 2020. Manuela tuvo seis hijos de un matrimonio anterior con César Armando Fitch. Sus hijos son Armando, Jorge, Carlos, Lorena, Johann y Samuel, quienes fueron la luz de su vida. Manuela era una mujer de muchos talentos, habiendo obtenido un título en Química, pero su verdadera pasión eran los negocios. Su filosofia de vida fue tener amigos no crear enemigos. Tenia una gran vision de negocios extraordinaria y talentosa negociadora. Fue empresaria y tuvo a su mando tienda de ropa, salon de belleza y galería de art (promoviendo varios artistas de San Antonio) a lo largo de su vida, y su arduo trabajo y dedicación fueron una inspiración para quienes la rodeaban. Será recordada por su cálida sonrisa, su corazón bondadoso y su amor inquebrantable por su familia. Fue una maravillosa madre y excelente esposa y brillante mujer, siempre poniendo las necesidades de sus seres queridos por encima de las suyas propias. Su legado continúa a través de sus hijos y nietos, quienes nunca olvidarán las lecciones que les enseñó sobre el valor del trabajo arduo, la determinación y el amor. El fallecimiento de Manuela es una gran pérdida para su familia y amigos, pero sum memoria seguira siendo atesorada por todos los que la conocieron. La extrañaremos profundamente pero nunca la olvidaremos.
