It is with profound sadness that we announce our precious miracle BabyBird Girl, Marcellina Jessiah Rodriguez, quietly and peacefully passed away in the early hours of Sunday; March 26, 2017 at the age of 10 months. As Marcellina met the eyes of God, she did so cradled in the loving arms of her parents. She was surrounded by her adoring Grandparents, Aunts, and Uncles and to the sounds of her favorite concerto, Chopin Nocturne Op.9 No.2 Marcellina was born on May 13, 2016 at 25 gestational weeks and weighing a mighty 1lb 7oz. As tiny as her physical being was, MJ left a large footprint in all of our hearts. Our baby girl fought the good fight for every single day of her 10 months on earth. Our Marcellina was born with severely underdeveloped lungs and suffered greatly from Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia. For 10 months we lived off hope and prayer that we would be able to bring our baby bird girl home. Sadly, that was just not to be. Every day we had her with us she was teaching us patience, courage, resilience and love and truly proved to be the bravest among us. Although our hearts are irrevocably broken and our lives will never be the same, we are at peace knowing that in her short life Marcellina warmed so many hearts and impacted so many lives. She was with us but a brief moment yet she leaves a lifetime of love. We thank you all for your outpouring of love and support. We thank you for following her story, for loving her, for praying for her, for praying for our family and for never giving up on her. A special thanks goes out to all her primary Nurses and Doctors at Methodist Children's Hospital NICU in San Antonio, Texas. These are the true angels who walk amongst us! Marcellina is survived by her parents Anastasiah Guerra and Jesus Rodriguez; her sister Jesslyn Rodriguez; her Maternal Grandparents Lori Castillo and Mario Anguiano; her Maternal Great-Grandmother Olivia Riley; her paternal Great-Grandparents Amanda Rodriguez and Vicente Guerrero; her paternal grandmother Becky Rodriguez as well as numerous Aunts, Uncles; cousins and friends. In Marcellina's brief time on earth she touched so many lives and was deeply loved by all her extended family and friends. She was born too early into this world but her little life spoke volumes.
