Maria Teresa Cavazos

Maria Teresa Cavazos, age 85, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away peacefully at her home on July 27, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on April 5, 1941, in Laredo, Texas, Maria lived a life defined by love, dedication, and selfless service to those around her. She spent much of her working life in the Purchasing Department for SAISD, where she was respected for her strong work ethic and commitment. Above all, Maria's greatest joy came from her family, whom she loved deeply and supported unconditionally throughout her life. Maria shared a loving marriage of 66 years with her beloved husband, Santos Cavazos. Together they built a beautiful family and a lifetime of cherished memories. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gregorio Chavez and Martina Chavez Martinez; her sister, Stella Magallanes; and her brother, Martin Chavez. She is lovingly survived by her husband, Santos Cavazos; her daughter, Belinda Martinez and husband Michael; her sons, Richard Cavazos and wife Estella, and Rudolph Cavazos and wife Mercy. Maria also leaves behind her brother, Joe Chavez and wife Ruth; her sister-in-law, Gloria Chavez; and her brothers-in-law, Roger Cavazos and wife Laura, and Arthur Moreno and wife Anna. She was a devoted grandmother to Sara Cavazos, Vicente Calderon and wife Mayela, Angelica Calderon, Javier Calderon and wife Christina, Santiago Calderon and wife Brianna, Naomi Vallejo and husband Arturo, Joshua Vallejo, and Rogelio Vieyra. She was also blessed with ten great-grandchildren: Luke, Vicente Jr., Leilani, Delilah, Damian, Sam, Bash, Lorenzo, Camila, and Gael, all of whom brought her immense pride and happiness. Maria will be remembered for her kindness, strength, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family. Her gentle spirit, warm heart, and enduring love will remain forever in the lives of those who knew and loved her. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 2, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 3, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels south, followed by interment at Mission Burial Park South. Maria's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has offered prayers, love, and support during this difficult time. Her memory will forever be treasured, and her legacy of love will continue through the generations she leaves behind.
