Our mother, Maria R. Estrada, age 88, departed this life on August 30, 2023, peacefully from this life into the loving arms of our Lord, surrounded by her loving family. Our Lord and Savior took her Home to begin her Heavenly life. Maria was born on October 22, 1934, in Del Rio, Texas to Antonio and Maria T. Rodriguez. Her parent moved to San Antonio, Texas where she was raised, and where she lived her entire life. Maria was baptized and raised as a Catholic. She attended Catholic school through the eighth grade, and she continued to follow the Lord her entire life inspired of life adversaries. Maria raised her children as a single parent showing them her genius love, by being both mother and father to her children. She was a humble individual, she knew when to seek help when she needed it for her children and did not allow pride to get in the way, she would reach out to her mother Maria Rodriguez, and her In-laws Estrada for help. Maria was constantly reminded by her children that she was their “security blanket,’ because it was their mother’s face they would see at night when she tucked them into bed, and the first face they would see when she woke them up for school. There were times when her children would get discouraged when experiencing hardship and adversity. She would tell her children the following: “Debes tener fe y seguir adelante.” You must have faith, and continue going forward. Her children have since claimed the following scripture to remind them of their mom Maria R. Estrada. “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” 2 Corinthians 5:7 Maria instilled strength, courage, wisdom, and “Love for family” in her children. She continues to pass those same traits and qualities on to her grandchildren, where she has a hand in raising her grandchildren as well. She did not stop with just raising her children, she continued with the next generation to solidify the foundation of a “loving family” she had built with the Lord’s help. As we are reminded: "Mothers hold their children's hands for a short while, but their hearts forever." Author: – Unknown She is preceded in death by her daughter, Sylvia Ann Estrada, Parents Antonio and Maria T. Rodriguez, Brothers, Ernesto Rodriguez, and Alfredo Rodriguez. Mrs. Maria R. Estrada is survived by her Children, Sons: Jose Jr. and Yolanda Estrada, Chris and Rosa Estrada. Daughters: Rose Linda and Tony Esparza, Janie Luna. Grandchildren: Jose III and Kanelle Estrada, Erik and Frances Estrada, Sylvia and Jose Guzman, Samantha and Ernesto Chagoya, Sandra Trevino, Tiffany and Eugenio Santiago, Robert and Jamie Luna, Randy Luna, Ron Luna, Reggie Luna, Ryan and Samantha Luna, Christine Estrada, Regina Estrada, Jason Estrada, Jose Estrada. Great-Grandchildren: 20 Great-Grandsons, 20 Great-granddaughters. Ages range from 23 years old to 1 month old. Visitation will begin Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at 5pm till 8pm. Visitation will resume Thursday, September 7, 2023, at 4pm till 8pm with a Rosary to be recited at 7pm. Visitation will resume Friday, September 8, 2023, at 9am with a procession to depart at 10am, for interment to follow at Mission Burial Park North.
