Maria T. Mermeia, born in Wilson County, Texas on April 6,1925, entered eternal rest on July 3, 2024 at the age of 99 years. She was a loving, caring and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend to many. She will be missed by all that knew her. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Juan Mermeia, her parents Severiano and Teresa Tejeda, brothers, Baltazar, Mateo, Pablo, Frank, sisters, Adelina Zepeda, Jesusa Benitez, daughter-in-law, Debbie Mermeia and son-in-law, James R. Reyes, Sr. She is survived by her five children, John Mermeia, Fidel Mermeia (Stella), Alice M. Reyes, Jesse Mermeia (Patty) and Joe Mermeia (Helen), her beloved sister Angie Luna (Adolfo), Grandkids Kelly (Tony), James, Jr. (Amie), Cynthia (Ralph), Johnny, Jr. (Sandra), Stella and Rebecca (Alex), Aidan, Alyssa (Trish), Leti, Gina (Geoff), Robert (Michael), Monica (David), Melissa (Albert), Shirley (Nick), (23) Great Grandkids, (6) Great, Great Grandkids and several nieces and nephews. She touched countless lives throughout her 99 years and was a friend to all who crossed her path. She loved her family unconditionally and her faith was a very important part of her life. She lived life surrounded with love and laughter. She loved to sew, whether it was for work or pleasure. She was an excellent seamstress. She was also an amazing cook. She had that magic touch. Every meal she prepared for her family was so delicious because it was made with so much love. She also made the best Texas sweet tea that it became a favorite in Minnesota. Her Minnesota grandkids introduced their grandma’s sweet tea to their friends and just like that, it was a big hit. They always looked forward to her visits because they knew she would always have a pitcher of sweet tea in the fridge. To this day as adults, those same kids still remember her. The most important things in her life were her faith and her family. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren meant the world to her. They were a priority in her life. She would always tell us that life was good, as long as you have your family. She was the glue that always held our family close. She was such a giving human being. Always with open arms to those in need and always offering her support. She was determined that she was going to reach her 100th birthday. She fought hard to make that happen, but sadly she came short of fulfilling that goal. Our family will always remember her as a strong, loving, and inspirational angel in our lives. Mom, for 99 years we were blessed with the best mom anyone could have ever asked for. Thank you for all the wonderful years you gave us. Thank you for keeping us all safe and loved growing up and thank you for always supporting us in whatever we did or needed throughout our lives. You don’t have to worry about your family anymore. Yes mom, we can still hear you telling us that a mother never stops worrying about her family, but your job is done now. Your mission in this beautiful life that God gave you was a success. You can go be with dad now. He’ll be smiling and eagerly waiting for you with open arms. Rest in Peace, mom. Your loving family We little knew that day, God was going to call your name. In life, we loved you dearly, In death, we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you. You did not go alone. For part of us went with you, The day God called you home. You left us peaceful memories, Your love is still our guide. And although we cannot see you, You are always at our side. Our family chain is broken, And nothing seems the same, But as God calls us one by one, The chain will link again.
