Maria Rosa Ramsay April 8, 1937 – January 3, 2022 We regretfully announce the passing of Maria Rosa Ramsay of San Antonio on Monday, January 3, 2022. Our loving mother was surrounded by her family and passed away peacefully. Our mother, Maria, was one of the strongest women to ever walk this earth, and we were blessed to have her as the matriarch of our family. She was born on April 8, 1937 in Eagle Pass, Texas. She grew up in San Antonio and graduated from Fox Tech High School in 1955. She worked as a teller and as a new accounts representative at the National Bank of Ft. Sam Houston and later Bank of America. Maria enjoyed assisting our brave service men and women stationed at Ft. Sam Houston with their banking needs. Maria married G.D. Ramsay on May 8, 1965 and was mother to their five children. Maria was a wonderful and loving mother who gave her all to her family. We will never be able to fill the space she left behind. Maria was preceded in death by her husband G.D. Ramsay and daughter Becky Logan as well as her parents Marcelino and Guadalupe Leal, her sisters Dolores Arias, Olivia Pacheco, and Alice Rosas and her brothers Marcelino G. Leal Jr., Guadalupe Leal, and Jose Leal. She was also preceded in death by Glen McMeans, her companion of 21 years. Maria is survived by her daughter Elizabeth Velasquez (husband Robert), her son Daniel Ramsay (wife Cara), her daughter Debra McMeans (husband Tim), and her daughter Linda Paul. She is also survived by her brother Ralph Leal. Maria leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, adopted grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Please consider a donation in Maria’s name to the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, as these organizations were important to her. A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 13th from 5:30-8:00 p.m. with a Rosary to begin at 6:30 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. On Friday, January 14th, we will depart in procession from the funeral chapel at 9:30 am for the funeral mass to be held at 10:00 am at St. Benedict Catholic Church located at 4535 Lord Road, San Antonio, Texas. The burial will follow at San Fernando Cemetery II at 746 Castroville Road, San Antonio, Texas. We ask all visitors to wear a mask. Due to the increased number of Covid cases, we will not gather together for a meal after the services. Thank you for understanding.
