Marilyn Gale Drake was born to Willie D Shannon and Virgie Mae Shannon on December 15, 1949. She was 1 of 5 children. Even though she was the only girl after growing up with Sonny, Willie, Lloyd and Kenny, she always teased that she was actually a “boy scout” at heart. Gale graduated from McCollum High School in 1967. She loved to share her memories with friends and all their “good ol’ times”. She cherished reuniting with everyone at high school reunions and catching up over lunch outings with her girlfriends. She had some of the best stories from her Vegas trips with her best friend, spending hours at those penny slots. Later in Gale’s life she shifted her hobby to spending time at the bingo hall. Any given Sunday, Monday, or Friday you could find her at her spot, cigarette lit, ready with her favorite dobbers. She is preceded in death by her son Patrick Conrey, parents Willie D. Shannon and Virgie Mae Shannon and brothers Lloyd Shannon, Kenneth Shannon, and Willie B. Shannon. She is survived by her children Chad D. Conrey (Tracy Conrey) and Amanda Kaupert (Bubba Kaupert); brother Roy “Sonny” Shannon (Norma); grandchildren Bryan Kaupert, Sarah Paige Conrey (Trace), Matthew Weichold (Lindsey) and Breana Conrey Muse (Josh); great-granddaughter Braylee Weichold, great-grandson James Muse and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Of the many titles she held, she was the most loving and caring mom and granny. Her world revolved around her kids and grandkids. There was nothing she wouldn’t do for any of them. Her family was one of the most important things in her life. It didn’t matter how extended you were on the family tree, she would drive across the country to meet you. Gale was a giver at heart. She loved and cared for anyone who ever crossed her path. Whether it was family, friends or a stranger she just met. She would give you the shirt off her back if you needed it. Gale was loved by many near and far. She will be greatly missed but she will live on forever in our hearts. Loving and kind in all her ways, upright and just to the end of her time; Sincere and true in her heart and mind, a beautiful memory she left behind. She had a nature you could not help loving. A heart that was purer than gold; And to those who knew her and loved her, Gale’s memory will never grow old. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 4, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. with a Funeral Service to begin at 12:00 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South.
