Marina Fuentes Gamboa went to be with our Lord on October 28, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas. She was born in Laredo, Texas on May 28, 1929, to Maximo and Marina Fuentes. She is proceeded in death by her parents, and siblings, Leonard Fuentes, Max Fuentes, William Fuentes, and Mary Ferguson. Marina graduated from South San High School. She went to secretarial school and worked at Kelly Air Force Base. There she met her husband, Richard M. Gamboa. They married and had 4 children. Elissa Orcutt (Michael), Martha G. Escobar (Gilbert), Richard M. Gamboa Jr. (Sandra) and David William Gamboa. Marina was also a stay-at-home mom but worked part-time at her children’s school, St. Joseph’s Catholic School. She was active in all her children’s activities and sports. Her family was one of her greatest accomplishments. Her unconditional love for family and friends was boundless. She spent endless hours going to her grandchildren’s (8) and great grandchildren’s (8) academic, sports, and musical honors. She loved sharing stories with them about her past when she was a young child growing up on Laredo Highway. Win or lose, she rooted for the Cowboys and Spurs! She always gave them the benefit of the doubt throughout all their games. She was always encouraging as she wore the apparel of the sport. She was an angelic presence to all who knew her and leaves behind a legacy of deep faith, compassion and strength. Prayer was always important as she channeled through life. Her devotion to her faith was apparent to all who had the honor of knowing her. She loved and was loved by many people. She will live on in our hearts. She will be cherished and remembered in all the beautiful memories we have of her. Her contagious laugh and her genuine love for everyone she met in her life was a wonder to behold! She welcomed everyone into her home and heart. We bid farewell, beautiful lady! You are our hero. Now is your time to connect with daddy, your parents, siblings and friends in God’s Kingdom. May you rest in God’s loving arms. Rest in peace dear momma! Bexar Hospice loved and cared for Marina throughout her journey. Dear family friend Deacon Ed Domowski from St. Joseph’s South San Church will be reciting the rosary at 6:30 on Thursday, October 31st at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. Interment will be at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery at a later date.
