Mark Douglas Calkins October 11, 1955 – March 14, 2017 Mark Douglas Calkins entered into Eternal Life on March 14, 2017. He was born on October 11, 1955 to Ann Lee and Roland Calkins in West Point, NY. Mark was a loving son, reliable brother, loyal husband, father and uncle and trusted friend to many. He was an intelligent, humorous, compassionate person and truly one of the “nice guys”. Always ready with a smile and an encouraging word, Mark genuinely cared about others. Rock solid, he could always be relied upon and there was never a favor Mark would not help out with…he was simply always there for you! What meant most to Mark was his beloved wife of 32 years, Tammy, and their two children Colton Patrick and Markaye Danielle. He will always be remembered by those closest to him for his unconditional and immeasurable love for them. We miss you already Mark! Reading was a passion with Mark from a very early age and he loved anything that involved family. After retiring from Valero Energy after 30 years of dedicated service, Mark looked forward to spending more time with family and friends…and that’s exactly what he did. His second favorite pastime was the outdoors and hunting at the family ranch. He loved sitting in his blind, “Mark’s Blind”, enjoying the wildlife and sitting around the campfire. That was his time with the guys. Mark also loved watching the Cowboys and the Spurs. It’ll never be the same watching these games without him and everyone will miss his passionate exchanges over the games with his father-in-law ‘Papa’…mostly Papa! Mark is preceded in death by his brother Patrick; mother, Ann Lee Miller; and father, Roland Calkins. Mark leaves behind his wife Tammy; daughter, Markaye; son, Colton; step-mother, Ellen Calkins; brother, Scott (Janice); sisters, Linda Landmann (Dwight), Loraine Cavoto (Jim), and Lee Ann Irion (Robert); mother and father-in-law, Donna and Robert Montalbo; brothers and sisters-in law; Jerry Montalbo (Gloria), Brenda Valls (Rick), Lisa Heitz (Jay), and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, March 17, 2017 at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North with a Vigil/Rosary at 7:00 PM. The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you consider supporting St. Elizabeth Anne Seton Catholic Church, The American Heart Association or a charity of importance to you.
