Tributes

Martha was born to Czech farmers in Marak, Texas outside of Cameron, TX to Frank and Amelia (David) Masar on March 17, 1928. An accurate description of Martha would be: Loving, Loyal, Independent, Brave, Beautiful, Spirited, Passionate, Feisty, Daring, Smart, Meticulous. She touched the lives of so many people, too numerous to mention in this limited space, until the day she died on January 3, 2024. Sister to Evelyn (husband Robert) Kruse, Brothers Frank, and August (wife Doris) Masar, all deceased. She and her brothers had many adventures on the farm. Riding the cows when Dad wasn't watching, swimming in the stock tank and changing out the light bulb to a higher wattage (when Dad wasn't looking.) Moving to San Antonio at the age of 16 (WW2) to work at one of the military bases filing and pulling parts, and planting roots here. Later, she began working at the San Antonio Union Stockyards, keeping books, and running the offices for different cattlemen. Ensuring her 7 nephews and niece were able to have the same adventuresome life, she would take them to the rodeo (front row seats, making sure they all had boots to wear), hunting, fishing, horseback riding and the like. Gathering them in her Oldsmobile she'd holler, “Hang on boys, here we go". When talking on the phone to her sister the language quickly changed from English to Czech when conversation needed to be private. Christmas at Aunt Martha's with family was the most special time of the year. Who can forget fireworks in the kitchen? Marrying Charles Mahone in the '70's, she gained another niece and 2 nephews. Charlie died in her arms of a heart attack in 1978. Mud Creek ranch was her next home, finally residing in Fort Clark Springs. There she met her love Charlie Rose, and his daughter Joy and family. Heartbreak visited Martha again when Charlie passed away in 2019. Martha is survived by her Nephews and Nieces: • Robert Kruse, wife Yvonne and children Caren Murdock, Cory, Matthew and Tristan Kruse and their families. • August Kruse, wife Peggy and son Chris Kruse. • Johnny Masar (deceased). • Paul Masar (deceased). • Billy "Skip" Masar, wife Suzie (deceased) and his daughters Daughter K’Liegh Leggett Husband Shea Leggett, Daughter Charlotte. Daughter Danene Cook, Son Kyle Stacks Daughter Christy Ward, Husband Aaron Ward, Daughter Brooke Daughter Candice Jolynn Giroir and Husband Greg Giroir • Rick Masar, wife Camey and daughters Samantha Sweeten and Taylor Scott and their families. • Nathan, wife Janet and son Josh Masar. • Martha Gail Farrar, spouse Elizabeth and son Alex Nickel. • Paula Mahone Caldwell, husband Peter and son Mike and daughter Sherry Giachino and their families. • Charles Mahone Jr. (deceased), wife Sue, children Robin Moran and Charles Mahone (deceased) and their families. • Mark Mahone. Aunt Martha is loved by so many, and we will deeply miss her on this earth, while cherishing all the beloved memories!
