Mary Reyes Arias, 78, died on January 13, 2012 at her home in Arlington, TX. Until last October, Mary was a lifelong resident of San Antonio, TX. Mary, who was born on July 20, 1933, was the daughter of Milton and Concepcion Arias and sister to five older brothers Magdaleno, Leonides, Milton, Nicolas and Leonard, who like her parents have preceded her in death. She is survived by two older Antonia Arias and Guadalupe Garcia and two younger sisters Eva Gomez and Anita Cadena. Mary was the beloved mother of Albert F. Arias Peggy, and proud grandmother of Maria Arias Gorman Matt, Elizabeth Arias II, Albert Arias, Jr., Antonia T. Arias, Nico S. Arias, Alycia K. Arias, and step-grandchildren Michael P Haynie, Jr. Yesenia, Miles S. Haynie and Miranda C. Haynie. She also considered her step-great-granddaughters, Abbygale and Alyce Haynie as her newest blessings in life. She was a loving aunt to all her nephews and nieces and a doting second mom to many of her son's friends and co-workers. More recently, throughout her ten plus years as a renal dialysis patient, she happily served as a peer counselor and patient advocate at the dialysis clinics she attended in San Antonio, and more recently in Mansfield, TX. Mary was a devout member of the Roman Catholic faith and volunteered in various capacities. First at Our Lady of Guadalupe, later at St. Paul's Catholic parishes and schools, and at Antonian College Prep in San Antonio. She was also a true silver and black fanatic of her San Antonio Spurs. Everyone she knew and met, even if just for a few moments, will remember her joy, quick smile and sharp wit. SERVICE Her family invites her friends to join them at her viewing, Rosary, funeral and burial, which is scheduled as follows: Visitation will be Thursday, February 2, 2012, from 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North. A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated Friday, February 3, 2012 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul's Catholic Church. Interment to follow at San Fernando I Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers her family requests that donations be made in her name to the National Kidney Foundation.
