On December 25th, 2020 Mary Flores, loving wife, mother and grandmother went home to be with the Lord at the age of 77. She is preceded in death by her parents Jesse and Eliza Martinez; brothers Carlos and Avelino Martinez; niece Amy Martinez Diloreto; and Benjamin Neal Martinez. Mary is survived by her loving husband Fermin Flores, their children; Steven Flores (Rose), Teresa Hatcher (Jeffery), Cynthia Morse (Ben) and Mark Flores (Sandra). Grandchildren; Amanda, Cierra (John), Christian, Michael, Dustin, Hannah, Samantha, Lauren, Samuel and Ava. Great-grandchildren; Beckett, Declan and Gryfinn. Surviving siblings; Gilbert Martinez (Mimi), Linda Schimpt, Edward Martinez (Rebecca), Ernest Martinez (Sarah), Beatrice Hernandez (Joe), Pauline Grubb (Larry), George Martinez (Cindy), Caroline Durham (Barry), Anita Friday (Larry), and Elizabeth Hill (Kevin). Mary was born on August 23rd, 1943 to Jesse and Eliza Martinez in Smithville, TX. She graduated from Smithville High School, and shortly after attended Texas A&M CC where she met the love of her life Fermin Flores, who would become her husband of 56 years. Mary went on to get her nursing degree at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center in Waco, TX. She was a registered nurse for nearly 30 years and through it was able to fulfill her passion of helping others. Mary and Fermin married on September 26th, 1964 in Waco, TX, later settling down in San Antonio, TX where they raised their four children; Steven, Teresa, Cynthia and Mark. Keeping God as the foundation of their marriage, his favor shown upon them greatly throughout their 56 years together. They were blessed with his security, and with an abundance of love, happiness and strength when it was needed. Mary loved the Lord and remained deeply connected to Him through prayer and service. Her faith was unshakable and played a huge role in her life, with her involvement in the church starting as a young girl. Mary’s strong compassion and conviction were a constant as she helped her husband Fermin, lead several churches. She was a fierce prayer warrior who manifested God’s power and covered her family and friends in God’s grace, blessings and protection. Mary was known for her angelic voice, she had a passion for music, and loved using her gifts to praise the Lord. During her time on earth, Mary showed love to so many and in return, received the love and adoration of every life she touched. One of the greatest joys and accomplishments in her life was her family. Her husband, children and grandchildren filled her heart with immense warmth, love and happiness. What a special person God created when he made Mary Flores. Mary’s smile radiated God’s joy, her voice brought heaven to earth, with every step she sought to advance His Kingdom and with every action she sought to reflect His love. We will miss the beauty, grace and love that shown through her and hope to carry her spirit and follow the narrow path that she walked in the love, power and name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Grandma, you have been the biggest joy and blessing in our lives and we are all so thankful for our time with you. Thank you for the many precious memories you made with us that we now hold as treasures forever. We miss you so much already, and we love you more because “our heart is bigger”. Good and faithful servant, enjoy your reward in heaven, until we are all united again. With love, your adoring family.
