Mary Jean George passed away on October 29, 2024. Mary Jean was born in San Antonio, Texas on January 21, 1949. Mary Jean’s biggest accomplishment was being Amanda’s mom. She absolutely loved her daughter and it showed in their wonderful relationship together. Mary Jean worked for Chase for almost 20 years working in El Paso, Dallas, and finally San Antonio. After she retired from Chase she had other Human Resources jobs with the Bexar County Medical Society and Little Engine Homecare while also being a Rodan and Fields consultant for 13 years. Mary Jean was the middle child and last surviving member of their family of 5. The family spent the summers traveling and visited 48 of the 50 states. Later in life Mary Jean loved her trips to Vegas to play the slot machines at MGM Grand and would go as often as she could. Just as Mary Jean’s dad Joe May was known as the “Picture Man,” she was known as the “Cinnamon Roll Lady.” Every year for Christmas Mary Jean would make dozens of cinnamon rolls and would mail them from El Paso back home to family in San Antonio and to friends all over. It was one of the things family looked forward to each year to enjoy. She was loved by her family and by so many friends from near and far and she will be deeply missed. Mary Jean was preceded in death by her parents Thomas Joseph May, Sr and Nancy McHugh May, sister Barbara Ann May Kotzebue, brother Thomas Joseph May, Jr, and brother-in-law Willis (Bill) E. Kotzebue, Jr. She is survived by her loving daughter Amanda George (boyfriend Taylor), nieces Elizabeth Hagan (husband Thomas), Kimberly Ahlstrom (husband John), sister-in-law Teresa Anderson May (boyfriend Mike), grandnieces Courtney Rhoden and Hannah Hagan. Private interment for the family will be at a future date in Mission Burial Park North. Flowers are always a beautiful expression of love, however, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Cancer Therapy and Research Center CTRC, 7979 Wurzbach Road, San Antonio, TX 78229 are appreciated.
