Mary L. Gutierrez went to be with our Lord on Monday, February 5th, 2024 at the age of 92. She was born on September 17, 1931 in Cassin, Texas. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mike J. Gutierrez and her brother Joe Lozano and parents Tomas and Consuelo Lozano. Survivors include her four loving children: Patricia Ann Rodriguez and husband Phillip, Norma Jean Gutierrez, Michael Joseph Gutierrez, and Thomas James Gutierrez and wife Marisa and her brother Thomas Lozano and wife Juanita. She was the proud grandmother of six grandchildren: Phillip Charles Rodriguez III and husband Travis, Lisa Rodriguez Sanchez and husband Joseph, Victoria Gutierrez, Sophia Gutierrez, Monica Benitez and husband Anthony, and Michael Gutierrez and wife Marci. She was also blessed with ten great grandchildren: Phillip Michael Rodriguez and Faith, Ava Danielle Rodriguez, Cecilia, Juliana, Liliana Sanchez ; Sebastian & Mateo Benitez; and Mason, Maximo, and Alexander Gutierrez. Recently she had gained great great grandmother status with the birth of Michael Kellum Rodriguez. She also had a multitude of wonderful nieces, nephews, and friends. Mary was a retired civil servant, spending the majority of her career at Ft. Sam Houston Post Reenlistment office as a military personnel clerk. She was the only civilian in the office. She loved spending time with her family, and vacationing in her favorite places of Las Vegas & Kickapoo Casino or any gaming establishment. Her travels led her cruising around the world where her contagious smile captured friendships throughout her life. Mary was the ultimate caregiver and her generosity had no bounds. She was a beautiful spirit, a loving mother, caring grandmother, and a woman of faith. She will be forever missed. Visitation will begin on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 4415 S. Flores, San Antonio, TX 78214. Rosary will be held at 10:00 a.m. with mass following at 11:00 a.m. at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church. Interment will follow at San Fernando Cemetery II.
