Chapman Mary J. Chapman, a loving wife, mother, and friend, born December 31, 1940 in Wichita Falls, Texas passed away Friday October 23rd, 2009. Mary is preceded in death by her husband Clyde E. Chapman and her parents, James Ray Johnson and Mildred Isbell Johnson. Mary is survived by: daughter, Catherine Chapman Thurk of Austin, Texas.; son, Keith Edward Chapman, D.D.S. of Monrovia, Liberia; grandchildren, Taylor Chapman, Lauren Chapman, Samuel Chapman, Jack Thurk, Michael Thurk, Ashley Thurk and William Thurk; sister-in-law, Marjorie Jennings and husband, Marshall; nephews, Trent and Brad Jennings; 4 great nephews and 1 great niece; 17 cousins; and numerous friends. Mary was a 1959 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School, San Antonio, Texas and a 1963 graduate of the University of Texas at Austin where she was a Delta Gamma and received a BBA in accounting. Throughout her life she had been involved in a variety of organizations including the San Antonio Conservation Society, San Antonio Symphony League, the Texas Military Institute Parents Association Pres. 1978-1988, the Southwest Foundation Forum, a Texas-Ex Life member, Flying Longhorn, and a member at Club Giraud. Mary attended St. Luke's Episcopal Church where she served on the Alter Guild, the St. Luke's Order of the Daughters of the King, and the St. Luke's Mission Board. Mary traveled extensively with her loving husband CE and recently returned from a solo trip visiting her son in Liberia, Africa. She showed great love to her family, children, grandchildren, and her friends, and she will be greatly missed by all of them. Services Visitation will begin at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 from 5:00 PM- 7:00 PM. The Funeral Service will be held Thursday, October 29, 2009 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church at 11:00 AM with interment to follow at Mission Burial Park North.
