Our beloved mom, Mary Jane Aguilar, passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She is joined in heaven with her husband, Steve, and was a devoted mother to her four children, Katherine Davis (Dr. Michael Davis), Stephen Aguilar (Irene Aguilar) Rebecca Velazquez (René Velazquez), and Belinda Pearce (Michael Pearce). Mary Jane was an avid outdoorsman, artist, photographer, and volunteer at church. Before she became ill, she preferred to be at ballgames, painting, fishing, camping, or cooking for family and friends rather than sitting still. She was known for her quick wit and delicious meals. She fed hundreds in the neighborhood and St. Mary Magdalen community. She would often say she loved her grandchildren twice as much and was so proud of them: MSgt. Phillip Fernandez, Jaden Aguilar, Katie Garcia, Nathan Garcia, Eric Velazquez, Ryan Velazquez, Erin Garza, Steven Garza, Anthony Pearce, Emily Pearce, Zachary Pearce, and Brenna Pearce. Mary Jane had one great grandson, Samuel Michael Adkins, who made her smile every time she saw him. A faithful Catholic woman all of her life, she was a source of strength and laughter to all those who knew her. Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let your perpetual light shine upon her. Visitation and Celebration of Life will be on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North, 3401 Cherry Ridge, San Antonio, TX 78230. A Rosary (10:30 am) and Mass of the Resurrection (11:00 am) will be celebrated on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church, 102 Lorenz, San Antonio, TX 78209. Interment will follow at San Fernando Cemetery III.
