Mary Lou Rodriguez, age 89, was born March 12, 1936, in San Antonio, Texas. A resident of San Antonio, Texas, she passed away peacefully on July 19, 2025, to be with her Lord. Mary Lou was a devoted cat lover, extending her kindness to both family and all living creatures. Her generous heart led her to regularly feed neighborhood cats – and even raccoons – treating them as part of her extended family. An avid crocheter with a never-ending creative mind, she crafted beautiful, intricate pieces reflecting her warmth and imagination. Mary Lou’s deep love for collecting beautiful dolls gave her tremendous joy and charm throughout her life. Mary Lou is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Guillermo Q. Rodriguez, Jr.; her parents Alejo Gomez and Maria Rosario Gomez; her sisters, Dorothy G. Neaves and Ruth Gomez; and her brothers Ernest Gomez Sr. and Andrew O. Gomez. Mary Lou is survived by Pat Wissler of Nevada, and Mary Lou’s loving nieces Dottie Mann-Rodriguez & spouse Rudy; and nephew Andrew Albert Gomez, Jr.; as well as her great-grand nieces Isabella & spouse Tim, Julianna & spouse Cameron, Mia & friend Sylvia, nephew Adrian Torres along with her great-great-grandnephew, Rhys Matthews. Mary Lou is fondly remembered by numerous close friends: Mary Cantu, Helen Chenault, Marshal Aguilar and Bertha Carbajal, her exceptional caregiver for over two years. Mary Lou and Bertha shared a beautiful bond filled with laughter, companionship, and countless games of Loteria. Mary Lou was always very happy in Bertha’s presence. Their friendship brought her immense joy and comfort. Services open to the Public. A Rosary will be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, 7:00 PM at Alamo Funeral Chapels, located at 624 N. Alamo St., San Antonio, TX. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church located at 3107 N. St Mary’s St., San Antonio, TX. Immediately following Mass, internment will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at San Fernando Archdiocesan Cemetery #2 located at 746 Castroville Rd., San Antonio, TX. We were truly blessed to have Aunt Mary in our lives – her love, creativity and generosity is deeply missed and forever remembered.
