Maxine Votion Kimrey, was born January 15, 1943, in San Antonio TX and went to be with the Lord on March 1, 2025, at the age of 82. She was preceded in death by her parents Alfred Votion Sr. and Margaret McRae Votion, her husband and love of her life of 38 years James O. Kimrey Jr. She is survived by sons, Leonard Patrick Kelly Jr. (Michelle), Trey Alder Votion (Sandy), James O. Kimrey III (Jennifer), Christopher Scott Kimrey (Christine Galindo), daughter, Debra Lynne Kelly (Jackie), Sister Mary Esther Ridgway (Albert), brothers, Alfred Votion Jr. (Tammy), Charles “Bubby” R. Votion (Suzy). Nine Grand Children Rusty Badillo (Roxanne), Salina Badillo, Kayci Holland (Matt), Montanna “Shay Shay” Croley (Walker), Taylor Alder Votion (Madi), Isaac Lawrence, Gregory, Ella, and Vivian Kimrey. Eight Great Grand Children, Logan Ransleben, Ryder Badillo, Laynee and Lawson Croley, Kenna and Kace Dubose, Chandler and Charlotte Votion, and numerous nieces/nephews, cousins, great nieces/nephews, and friends. Maxine graduated from Southside Rural High School, Class of 1961 where she was Valedictorian, President of the National Honor Society and Student Council, Freshman Class President, drum majorette, cheerleader, Band member playing saxophone, basketball team member, along with most popular girl! After high school her career began at Frederick Refrigeration, New York Life Insurance, then transitioned to Concept Engineering, Guess Uniforms, Contractor and Brooks AFB, tax accounting and lastly, she stopped work early to take loving care of J.O.s mother, her mother-n-law, Grandma Ella Kimrey for a decade. She was very proud of the achievements of her sons and daughter. Then came her gift of being called “Gammy” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren, she relished being a bonus mom to Jay and Scott and their families joining ours, insisting we stay together! One of her greatest personal accomplishments was her success in Chili Cookoffs. She was a fantastic cook, which we always looked forward to when visiting. She was an avid Bunco club member for 50 years and we sure have heard a lot of stories. Her biggest achievement of all is Jesus in her life! She met the man who would become the love of her life, when J.O. purposely sat in her chair at a place they frequented so he could meet her. Therefore, “The Chair” became their song and the rest is history. As you can see, she was an especially loving and caring wife, Mom, Gammy, matriarch and rock of our family and she will be missed! We would like to extend a special thank you to Debra Kelly for the care and support she provided for the last several years. We would also like to thank “A Better Solution” for the last month of caregiving provided by Cheyenne, Favor, Sarah, and Mariah, y’all took such great care of her! Lastly, to “Caring Hands Hospice” for the last month, Erica, Christopher, Nadine, Casey, and Chaplain John Haddad. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at 8:30 a.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South with a procession to depart the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Committal Service to follow at 10:00 a.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
