A loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, granddaughter, sister and friend, Melinda M. Cazares went to be with the Lord on January 24, 2022, at the age of 57. She was born on September 2, 1964 in San Antonio, TX. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents (Villa) and paternal grandparents (Mendoza); in-laws, Lucio and Gloria Cazares. Melinda is survived by her loving husband of 29 years, Lucio R. Cazares; children, Christopher Cazares (Ashley) and Crystal Cazares; 4 grandchildren, Isabella Faith Cazares, Maddox Rey Cazares, Jaxon Cash Cazares and Olivia Rose Cazares; with one grandson on the way, Derek Jace Martinez; mother Elena Valero (Gilbert); father Richard Mendoza; siblings, Rick, Letty and Mike Mendoza; brother and sisters-in-law, James (Mona), Diana and Elida Cazares, and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members and friends. Melinda enjoyed spending time with her family, especially spoiling all of her grandbabies with love. She enjoyed life, whether it be shopping with her daughter, hunting with her husband or joking around with her son. Melinda took pride in working for the school district for 20 plus years, not only touching the lives of children she taught, but also the lives of anyone she crossed paths with. In 2012 Melinda was diagnosed with breast cancer and with her strength and faith she won that fight. She ended her teacher career at Kelly Elementary in 2019 to prepare herself for another setback. GOD gave one of his strongest warriors yet another battle to conquer. With the same strength to fight as before she began a similar yet different tribulation. Towards the end she found peace through the pain, courage through fear and strength through weakness. With her loved ones by her side, and her journey on earth coming to an end, GOD had different plans for her and it was then she gained her wings. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Visitation will be on Thursday, February 3, 2022 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary to begin at 6:30 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. Funeral procession will depart the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. for a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Berchmans Catholic Church on Friday, February 4, 2022. Interment to follow at San Jose Burial Park.
