Arlyn “Michael” Schmitz, of San Antonio, TX, was welcomed peacefully into the arms of our Lord and Savior on March 31, 2025 at the age of 72 while at home with his loving and devoted wife, June Ann, by his side. Family left to mourn Michael’s passing and celebrate his life are June Ann, his wife of 36 years, siblings Marilyn (Gordy) Krueger of Fond du Lac, WI, Sharon (John) Birkhauser of Lake Forest, IL, Sandy (Gerry) Scudella of Fond du Lac, WI, sister-in-law, Mary Ann Schmitz of St. Augustine, FL, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and many dear friends and family members across the country. Michael is preceded in his early death by his parents, Adrian and Viola, and brothers, Ronald and Adrian, Jr. A special thanks to next-door neighbors and close friends, John and Kate Aranda, for their endless support and help. In 2016 Michael retired from Valero Energy Corporation after a long career in the oil industry. Michael’s professionalism and ethical values served him well in many areas of his life. His respect for people and God’s creations shined through his generosity of his analytical acknowledge and advice, his hospitable nature, his impeccably landscaped yards and the care he took of the many gifts God provided - especially his vehicles! Michael’s easy-going, gentle spirit will be dearly missed. Michael enjoyed nothing more than a competitive card game of Pass and Cover, watching his sports teams—the Wisconsin Badgers (football and basketball), the Green Bay Packers and the St. Louis Cardinals. Some of Michael’s favorite past times were going with June Ann to the movies, walking their very much-loved pups: Oliver, Chloe, Trevor, Levi and Socks, dining out, hiking, traveling and visiting with friends and family. On Saturday, April 26, 2025 at Noon, there will be a memorial service at Mission Park Funeral Chapels and Cemetery Dominion, 20900 I-10, San Antonio. Immediately following the memorial service, a meal will be shared at Albi’s Vite Italian Kitchen 24165 I-10, San Antonio. Tentative plans are being made to live-stream the Memorial Service.
