Michael D. Valenzuela, “Mike” was born in San Antonio, Texas on June 08, 1979, and left us to be with the Lord on June 30, 2023, after an unknown battle with pancreatic cancer. His close family was with him by his bedside. Mike was a creative and sensitive soul, perceptive, a caring dad and husband, a wonderful son and best friend to many. He was an architect, a designer and collector. He enjoyed hunting for vintage furniture and collectibles. He loved road trips with his wife and son, always finding unique places to visit. He cherished every moment with his son Joseph, inspired and encouraged his artistic skills. Mike also loved a good coffee, smoking the best ribs, riding his Vespa, playing the guitar, and listening to live music. He had the most beautiful smile, and he will be missed so much by all who loved him. Mike was a licensed architect in the state of Texas. He graduated from South San Antonio High School and then went on to receive a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Houston, College of Architecture in 2002. His love for art, design and architecture grew and was greatly influenced after attending a study abroad program in 2001 at Le Centre d’Etude d’Architecture et d’Urbanisme in Saintes, France, where he also strengthened lifelong friendships. Mike had a passion for mid-century modern design and from 2018 to 2022, he served on the board of directors for Houston Mod. “Remod Mike” as many knew him, was dedicated to promoting knowledge and appreciation of modern design to anyone that was interested. Mike is survived by his loving wife of 11 years Gina Jaimes Valenzuela, his beloved son Joseph Michael Valenzuela, his adoring parents Robert and Janie Valenzuela, his dear older brother Robert D. Valenzuela, and loved family and friends. Rest in peace my love. You will live in our hearts forever. Prayer, remembrance and funeral services will be held on July 21, 2023, at Mission South Park Chapel, 1700 SE Military Drive, San Antonio, TX 78214. Starting with a Rosary at 10:00 am, followed by the funeral service at 10:45 am and remembrance remarks. A procession will be held from the Chapel to the Mission Park South Cemetery Columbarium for the interment at 12:15 pm.
