Miguel Martinez, age 91, peacefully entered the arms of our Lord on February 2, 2024. He was born in Eagle Pass, Texas on September 29, 1932, to his parents Federico and Octabia Martinez. A beloved husband, father, uncle, and friend, his passing is felt deeply by everyone who was blessed enough to have him in their lives. Miguel is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Minerva Martinez, and their daughter, Patricia Martinez, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other members of the family. He is reunited in Heaven with his parents, Federico and Octabia Martinez; his sister; Aurora and his brothers, Juan Martinez, Secundino “Pete” Martinez, Jesus Martinez, and Felix Martinez. While in the Navy, Miguel served on Iowa Class battleships and on an aircraft carrier while stationed in San Francisco, San Diego, and Hawaii. After serving four years in the Navy, Miguel worked as a medical illustrator at Brooks Air Force Base, where he designed countless displays and exhibits for use at medical conferences and where he was also the illustrator for several books at the School of Aerospace Medicine. He also served as the museum curator for priceless Air Force artifacts at the Edward H. White ll Museum of Aerospace Medicine (Hangar 9) at Brooks Air Force Base. Miguel worked at Brooks Air Force Base in various positions for 39 years. He ended his working years as a substitute teacher in the San Antonio Independent School District, where he thoroughly enjoyed every class with his students.
