Mike C. Ramirez passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, the 18th of August 2019. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather (Pappo), brother, and friend and will be greatly missed by all who had the joy of knowing him. He was born on September 8, 1924 in Seguin, Texas to Eduvijes and Refugia Ramirez. Mike grew up farming and as an adult began a career as an Aircraft Mechanic at Kelly Field where he retired after many years of service. He enjoyed having family around, dancing, listening to old Conjunto music, carpentry, working on his yard, helping with household projects with his family, and watching the Spurs. His favorite pastime, though, was baseball (especially the Yankees). He spent many years managing softball teams and organizing plate sales. Most recently you would have found him enjoying dances at the Royal Palace and Pan Am dance halls with his good friends, Santiago "Jimmy" Hernandez and Mike or caring for his roses at home. Mike is preceded in death by his parents Eduvijes and Refugia Ramirez; first wife Jesusa Ramirez; second wife Elida D. Ramirez; siblings, Juan Ramirez, Inez Ramirez, Rumaldo Ramirez, Martin Ramirez, Jesus Ramirez, Ernesto Ramirez, Feliz Ramirez, Matilde Loera, Petra Moreno, Victoria Galvan, Dominga Maldonado, Ruth Apodaca, and grandson Faustino Montoya. He is survived by his loving family; Mike Alejos Ramirez, Jr. (Sylvia), Elvira Alejos Barrientes (Mike Rodriguez), Maria Dolores Quinones (Ray), Albert Alejos Ramirez (Norma); Diane Martinez (Jose), Ann Santos (Gerald) and Veronica Barefield; grandchildren Mike Ramirez, III, Mitchell Ramirez, Matthew Ramirez, Mellissa Ramirez, Roger Barrientes, Annmarie Barrientes, Albert Ramirez, Willie Quinones, Michael Quinones, Christina Quinones, David Hernandez, Victoria Puentes, Taylor Montague, Katherine Puentes, Lauren Santos and Nathaniel Santos, and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nephews, and nieces, and family friends. The family wishes to extend their immense appreciation to the staff at San Antonio Hospice, Caring Seniors, Warm Springs Rehabilitation Center (especially Occupational Therapists, Eric and Jackie), the CNAs at The Forum, Nurse Debbie, and Legends Home Health, with particular gratitude to Nurse Rhea who was a blessing and a beloved care provider. Visitation will begin on Sunday, September 1st at 5:00p.m. with the Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Home South. Funeral Mass will be on Monday, September 2nd at Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1214 Stonewall St. at 10:00 a.m. A Celebration of Life with be held at Our Lady of Angels Church hall following the funeral mass.
