Tributes

Gaura Mildred B. Gaura, born June 6, 1924 entered into rest on July 3, 2011 at the age of 87. Mildred, a long time Kerrville resident, was a member of Notre Dame Catholic Church where she was active with the Altar Society, the Women of Notre Dame, and served as a Eucharistic Minister for 8 years. Mildred volunteered at the Notre Dame church and VA libraries in Kerrville. She was also active with the Kerr county Extension Service.Before moving to Kerrville in 1979, she was a homemaker for her husband and three children in Milwaukee WI. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hales Corners, WI and was very active with the church's Alter Society. Mildred worked briefly at Krueger Publishing on the factory floor while her husband was on strike from the Allen Bradley Company. She also worked at Northwest Fabrics and as a secretary for the Milwaukee County Hospital system. Mildred enjoyed square dancing in both Milwaukee and Kerrville. She enjoyed sewing including making her own petticoats and square dancing outfits.She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis J. Gaura passed on December 28, 1987; parents, Charles and Amanda Opitcka; sister, Laverne; son-in-law, Larry Capdeville; step-father, Edward Cigler who lived in Greenfield, WI.. Survivors include, Children; Lynn Johnson, James, Kathy Captiville, Ronald Gaura Brenda, Grandchildren; Carol Fenski Kevin; Chuck Johnson Niomi; Mike Johnson, Dave Johnson, Adam Captiville, Derek Gaura and Courtney Gaura; 3 Great Grandchildren.Mildred was a loving, mother, grandmother and great grandmother; she will be missed by family friends and neighbors. Please join us for visitation which will begin on Sunday, July 10, 2011 from 6-9P.M. with a rosary to be recited at 8:00P.M., at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North. Funeral services will be at 9:00A.M. at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church with the interment to follow in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at The Havens, Oddyssey Hospice House, Regent Care Center Blanco, and The Laurals for the compassion and loving care they provided for our mother.
