Lillian Murl Hudson Doolittle entered the kingdom of heaven while the world welcomed another Angel on March 28, 2010. She joined her family in heaven at the age of 85. Waiting there for her were her beloved parents Roy and Mary Hudson, loving husband Cecil H. Doolittle, brothers Cleve Hudson, Paul Hudson, Jimmy Hudson, devoted children Roy Van Thomas, Linda Sibley, and cherished grandson Ronnie Schwartz. Murl is survived by those that love her dearly: devoted daughter Gail Passons, wonderful grandchildren Troy Thomas, Tammy Farris and husband Jim, Marlana De Leon and husband Darrel, Traci Davis and husband Sean, Jason Sibley and wife Julie and Jared Sibley and wife Mady. Precious great-grandchildren Chandise Allen, Randall Tanner, Dustin Thomas, Hailie Davis, Jacob Sibley, Jaylie Sibley, Jaden De Leon, and Hannah Davis who affectionately call her "GG" along with adorable great-great grandchildren Coegan and Cambree Allen. She had a special relationship with her only living brother Joe Hudson and wife Mary. She will be fondly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and many friends. To know her is to love her. She brought a smile to all that knew her through her witty charm and vivacious personality. She was born on September 4, 1924 in Sulphur Springs, Texas. She graduated in 1942 from Sulphur Springs High School and proudly attended her 50th Class Reunion in 1992. She relocated to San Antonio in the early 1950's to attend beauty school. Soon after, she opened her own salon, Murl's Beauty Shop, which she operated on the Southeast side of San Antonio for 15 years. Next, she joined the Mission Art Group and spent 10 years traveling all over Texas selling her ceramic masterpieces. You could always stop by the "Mud Hut" to find her ornate nativity scenes and reindeer with impressive eyelashes. Murl was as artistic as she was charming. Murl married Cecil H. Doolittle in 1960 and lived happily together for 33 years, until his passing in 1993. Together they took many weekend getaways to their coastal fishing cabin. She was a devoted and caring wife. In her later years, Murl enjoyed traveling the states with her daughter and son-in-law. Her two favorite, of her many destinations, were Niagra Falls and gambling in Las Vegas. Recently, her family surprised her with a birthday party when she turned 85. She spent the day surrounded by friends and family and described it as one of the happiest days of her life. Murl loved laughing and gathering people together; she made you feel welcomed and loved instantly. She could light up a room with her smile. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her great grandchildren. She had a patient, nurturing spirit that helped many through troubled times. Her life was full of love, laughter and devotion to her family. She suffered great loss in her life yet overcame those obstacles with grace. She was truly the rock of the family. Murl will be greatly missed and memories of her will be treasured in our hearts forever. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 1, 2010, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm Friday, April 2, 2010 in the funeral home chapel with interment to follow in Mission Burial Park South.
