Nancy L. Rinnert Nunneley January 19, 1940 – August 18, 2016 On the morning of August 18, 2016, Nancy passed away peacefully at the age of 76, comforted by her loving husband, children, and grandchildren. Nancy was born in Checotah, OK on January 19, 1940. She was the first born and only daughter of Juanita and Lawrence Rinnert. She grew up in Tulsa, OK. While in school, Nancy enjoyed singing in the choir and playing piano. It was while attending Northeastern State University that she met her best friend and husband, Jerry Nunneley. They were married on August 29, 1959. Upon graduation from college, the young couple moved to Tulsa, OK. During that time Nancy and Jerry raised their two young sons, Jerry Jr. and Larry. Nancy was employed by American Airlines until 1968 when a career opportunity brought them to San Antonio. Nancy went to work for Volkswagen of America as an executive secretary where she retired after 25 years of service. She then went to work for USAA as an executive secretary moving up quickly to Executive Row. She retired permanently 5 yrs. later. Nancy had many interests and hobbies. She was an accomplished cook, starting at a very young age. She was a gifted seamstress and quilter. She made beautiful clothes for herself as well as her children and grandchildren. Nancy had a green thumb and her gardens were always stunning. She loved music, playing the piano and singing. When she had free time, Nancy could always be found reading. Nancy loved being outdoors. She was an avid golfer. She and Jerry played every chance they could- but, I would have to say that she was most happy with a fishing rod in her hand. She taught both her sons and grandsons to fish and some of our fondest memories are at Lake Buchanan catching crappie or in Rockport pulling in the trout! Nana loved her grandkids and was their greatest fan. She never missed a sporting event. You could hear her voice over the crowds cheering for her kids. She was there for every academic event, every musical or drama production, she was always there and we are going to miss her. She will be missed and loved by many, but especially by her loving husband Jerry W. Nunneley, Sr.; sons Jerry W. Nunneley, Jr. and wife Jill; Larry G. Nunneley and wife Sherri; Grandchildren, Jerritt and wife Amanda; Jacob and wife Hilary; Jeanette Nunneley; Megan Nunneley; and Eli Nunneley; great grandchildren Caroline, Charlotte, and Colt. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Juanita and Lawrence Rinnert, and her brother Robert L. Rinnert. Family will receive family and friends on Monday, August 22, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapel North, 3401 Cherry Ridge St., San Antonio, TX 78230. Funeral will be held at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at the Mission Park Funeral Chapel North with committal services at Zion Lutheran Cemetery 9944 Leslie Road, San Antonio, TX 78254. In lieu of flowers, Nancy would be grateful with contributions being made to the Creutzfeldt Jakob Disease Foundatio
