Natalie Marie (Kloesel) Mikes, age 90, of San Antonio, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, May 13, 2025. Natalie was born on July 27, 1934, in Lavaca County, Texas to the late Frank Kloesel and Ella (Muehlstein) Kloesel. She married the love of her life, Ladik Albert Mikes Jr. on September 4, 1951 in Moulton, Texas, and was blessed with over 60 years of marriage. Natalie grew up in Moulton and learned at an early age when her mom became ill that responsibility and hard work were part of life, so she quit school in the eighth grade to help her dad raise her six brothers and work the farm. She married Ladik at the young age of 17 and, after he got out of the Army, they decided to make a home in San Antonio. Natalie raised six children and then started her career with Sommers Rexall and retired from Auto Zone. Natalie was known as Mom, Sis, Aunt Sissy and, most endearing, Nonny. She truly had a servant’s heart. Spending time with family and friends meant everything to her and food was her love language. Family gatherings with shared family recipes around the holidays, reunions and special events were cherished. She loved gardening, sewing, cooking, and baking. She was especially known for her delicious ice box and M&M Christmas cookies. In her later years, she enjoyed making quilts and baby blankets for all of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She sewed every stitch with love and prayer. She was a devout Catholic and a member of Holy Name Catholic Church for many years. Natalie is survived by her son, Dennis Mikes; son-in-law, Frank Walker; son, Kenneth Mikes (Laurie); son, Darryl Mikes (Trisha); son, Douglas Mikes; daughter, Becky Elmendorf (Aaron); 17 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren with one on the way; 4 great-great grandchildren with one on the way; brothers, Frankie Kloesel, Harvey Kloesel (Diane), Ronnie Kloesel (Clara), JJ Kloesel (Diana); and many extended family members and dear friends. Natalie was preceded in death by her husband, Ladik Albert Mikes; daughter, Sandra Walker; daughter-in-law, Tracy Mikes; and siblings, Irene Kalischko, Elroy Kloesel, and Oscar Kloesel. A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Dellcrest Funeral Home, 2023 W.W. White Rd. San Antonio, TX 78222. Rosary will begin at 6:30 PM. A funeral will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025, at 2:00 PM at St. Margaret Mary’s Catholic Church, 1314 Fair Ave. San Antonio, TX 78223. Interment will follow at St. Ann’s Cemetery, FM 1346, La Vernia, TX.
