Nicole Marie Flores of San Marcos, Texas passed away on January 9, 2016 at the age of 42. She was born on September 2, 1973. Nikki, as many knew her, is survived by her five year old loving son, Jack Bates IV, and mother Margaret and her father Margorito Flores of San Antonio, Tx. Nikki is survived by her Aunts Rebecca Segura, Carmen Flores Charnichart, Cecila Palacios and her husband Manuel, Vicki Faz, and Uncle Rudy Faz and wife Yolanda. She is also survived by many cousins. Nikki is preceded in death by her grandparents Sylvester and Luisa Flores, Uncles Sylvester Jr., Robert and Frankie Flores. Nikki enjoyed her adolescent years at Alamo Heights. When she was 9 she auditioned for and was accepted to the San Antonio Youth Orchestra. She attended Trinity University for rehearsals on Saturday, giving up her cartoon day, but she enjoyed her time spent with the orchestra. She graduated from high school in 1991 from Alamo Heights where she nurtured her love of music and continued her education at Southwest Texas State University. There she participated in the Bobcat Band, Tau Beta Sigma band sorority, and in 1992 she was a contestant for the Miss Fiesta Pageant, where she was crowned Miss Congeniality. This gave her an opportunity to visit schools where she would speak to the children about staying in school. She graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Education from Southwest Texas University. Nikki's love for children led her to teaching at the Primary level. She loved every child in every class. She went beyond her calling and had a heart to serve the children and her community gathering and providing for those in need. A message from Nikki, "You never know when it's time to go, so be sweet, be kind, be gentle, be forgiving, and most of all, Be happy. Just be happy. God will take care of the rest." Nicole had a true love animals and got a cat named Lefty in 1997. Lefty was with her constantly, and was always waiting for her at the door when she got home. She lost Lefty in 2010, and he was cremated and remained with her at her residence on Eastwood Drive in San Marcos. Lefty and Nicole are now reunited. The Family would like to thank Dr. Clinton Polhamus and the San Antonio Digestive Disease Consultants, and the Intensive Care Units staff at Methodist Northeast who treated her with love and compassion. Services will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North, 3401 Cherry Ridge Rd., San Antonio, Tx, 78230. Visitation: 11:00a.m.-1:30p.m. Rosary @1:30. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations will be accepted and used towards expenses. A fund will be set up and details will be updated via Nikki's facebook page.
