Tributes

Noel Garcia was called to Heaven by our Lord on March 28th 2014. He is preceded in death by his older sister Norma Rodriguez and his son Carlos Noe Garcia. He is survived by his wife Wanda King Garcia and two sisters, Carmela Cardenas Ruben and Elvira Gracia Alonso. Noel was born on August 10th, 1931 in Mercedes Texas to Arturo Solis Garcia and Elvira Caballero. He was the loving father of 6 children, Alicia Hinojosa, David Garcia Alice, Arturo Garcia Camille, Aimee Garcia Elwood Tony and Christopher Garcia, 16 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He grew up with three sisters and he was the second born. He graduated from Mercedes High School and attended the University of Texas where he earned his Degree in Pharmacy in 1956 and has maintained his license to date. He ultimately moved to Laredo where he opened his own drug store that grew to a total of three. His businesses were cutting edge and innovative. He served thousands of people in and around Laredo for 37 years. He was the first to use Two Way Radio dispatched delivery and a 24 hour hot line for Doctors use only. Noel's legacy continues with the example he set for us in his Faith and in his devotion to the profession of Pharmacy. This is demonstrated by his son Carlos becoming a Pharmacist and his grandson, Jeremy, doing the same. He also influenced many family members and others to choose higher education in all things including Pharmacy. His service to the community included the board of The Texas Pharmacy Assoc, UISD School Board, Order of the Alhambra, St Patrick's Church Men's Club, his attitude about Customer Service and his uncompromising work ethic. He was still practicing Pharmacy at the East Texas Community Health Clinic until just recently. We are lessened by his loss but inspired by his legacy. He will be greatly missed. Services Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at Oak Hills Mortuary with the Vigil/Rosary at 7:00 PM. The Mass of the Resurrection will begin at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 2623 Perez St., San Antonio 78207. Services will also be held in Nacogdoches, Texas with interment at Oak Grove Cemetery.
