Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Olga Sanchez, was called home to be with our Lord on March 2, 2025, at the age of 91. She was the oldest of four siblings and was born on July 23, 1933 in San Antonio, Texas to Pedro and Isaura Talamantez. Mom attended Edgewood and was their class President and also their Prom Queen. After graduation, mom was offered a full scholarship to go to college but declined so she could work and help her family. Mom worked for the Health Department from 1952 and part of 1953 at the city Chest Clinic on the grounds of the Robert B. Green Hospital as a Medical Secretary and later transferred to the Health Department Business Office and was in charge of Payrolls and Records until she and the love of her life, our father, married in 1955. Our mother was a loving, compassionate, kind soul who prayed unceasingly for all who crossed her path or were in her heart. She prayed for strangers, the homeless, young people, old people, people who were ill, her friends, family, deployed military personnel, our country, our pets, strays and everyone she met. Her heart was huge and so filled with love for everyone. Mom always practiced what she preached; she was the epitome of LOVE. Olga Sanchez was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, SGM (Ret) Frank Sanchez, her father Pedro Talamantez, her step-father, Conrado Davila, her mother, Isaura Talamantez-Davila, her brother, Arturo Talamantez, and great-granddaughter, Marie Gonzalez. She is survived by her son, Frank Sanchez, Jr. (Linaden), daughters, Cynthia Marie Sanchez and Deanna Marie Cervantes (Robert Jr.); sisters, Aurora Rodriguez (Richard), Esther Talamantez, 6 grandchildren, Tyffany Marie Gonzalez, Laura Marie Valdez, Matthew Alexander Sanchez (Rachel Rodriguez), Kirstin Nichole Cervantes (Kyle Law), Katlyn Nichole Guerrero (Matthew), Robert Cervantes III (Chelsea Reed); 15 great-grandchildren, Donovan Cole Gonzalez, Neyomi Rose Gonzalez, Serenity Nevaeh Martinez, Isabella Rose Cervantes, Gia Isabelle Gonzalez, Luca Frank Cervantes, Azyiah King Hernandez, Adalynn Kinley Law, Evelynn Grace Guerrero, Greyson Robert Cervantes, Elizabeth McKenzie Guerrero, Brantley Hudson Law, Caleb Alexander Cervantes, Ezra Alexander Sanchez and Ethan Frank Cervantes. The family wishes to express their gratitude and appreciation for the loving staff and extended family our mother so dearly loved at her home at Discovery Village at Dominion, San Antonio, Texas. Mom enjoyed life and especially enjoyed playing Bingo, making flower arrangements for the facility or other residents, having Tea with Ms. Lucy, going to church and listening to the Sunday gospel singers, going to the ice cream socials and enjoyed the “Fantastic Piano Man.” Mom always said she was so very, very blessed and she thanked God each day. We too were blessed and we thank God each day for giving us the great gift of having her in our lives. We love you, will hold you in our hearts and will miss you so very much mom. SERVICES Visitation, at Mission Park North will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, from 5-8 p.m. The following day, Wednesday, March 26, 2025, a Rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, 10703 Wurzbach Rd., San Antonio, TX 78230. Interment will follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery where she will be buried with her husband.
