Oralia V. Talamantez passed away peacefully, on May 20th, 2023, surrounded by her family in her home in San Antonio, at the age of 91. Oralia was born in McAllen, Texas to Nemencio and Estefana Villarreal on August 15, 1931. Oralia was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She retired from VIA Metropolitan Transit in 1996 from the accounting department where she made lifelong friends. Oralia was famous for being able to calculate math problems in her head before anyone could pull out their calculators; the human calculator, we named her. She then began traveling visiting her long-distance relatives and became involved with the VFW. She loved God and Country. A true patriot who loved, supported, and defended her country and its interest with devotion. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary. She was President at VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 485 and Trustee and Chairman at Post 9186. A Life Member of the VFW National Home for Children. Oralia also was an Electoral Judge and a stickler that her team followed the laws on election days. Oralia was also a devoted volunteer, ready to help raise funds for a good cause, especially collecting toys at Christmas time, for the children of Elf Louise and if she heard of a family member in dire need of help, she always stepped in to help. Oralia will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is preceded in death by her 2 husbands, Antonio Alvarado and Humisindo Talamantez, her parents Nimencio Villarreal and Estefana Trevino, 4 brothers, Rodolfo Villarreal, Rodolfito Villarreal, Eutilio Villarreal, Rafael Villarreal and 6 sisters, Socorro Villarreal, Maria Guadalupe V. Contreras, Marta V. Salinas, Maria V. Castillo, Lydia V. Casas, and Magdalena V. Nickson. She is survived by her daughters, Anna M. Alvarado, Diana Alvarado Blevins and her son, Simon Alonzo Alvarado, her sister, Aurora V. Porter, 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, 15 nieces, 18 nephews and her beloved dogs, Skipper, and Lola. Visitation will begin on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. with a rosary and vigil to begin at 6:30 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. Reception will follow at VFW Post 9186.
