Oscar Margarito A. Castoreno July 18, 1949 – January 27, 2023 Oscar M. Castoreno, 73, of San Antonio, Texas, was born to Solio Castoreno Sr. and Dora Araiza Castoreno on July 18, 1949. Oscar surrendered his life, too early, into the arms of his Lord Jesus Christ, on January 27, 2023. He proudly grew up on San Antonio’s Westside and graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in 1967. Oscar married the love of his life Maria Socorro Gaytan Castoreno on November 29, 1980, his commited wife of 50 years. They welcomed five children whom they raised on frijoles, rice, tortillas, hardwork and tough love. Oscar loved his family deeply and was known for always being there for his loved ones whenever they called, no matter the time of day. Let it be known that Oscar Castoreno was a Master Jeweler, always dressed to the nines, be it in his ostrich boots or shiny leather Stacey Adams, guayabera shirts and Stetson 7 1/4. He drove a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air HardTop. Oscar’s spirit and fearless nature were larger than life. His smile and laughter often filled any room he entered. Oscar was talented in many trades and held an admirable work ethic all his life. His unwavering faith in God and in his community also inspired him to lead a life of service to others. He leaves us as he was, helping those around him. Never one to accept the impossible, Oscar will always be remembered as an incredible father, grandfather, son, uncle, brother and friend to many. Oscar is survived by his wife, Maria Socorro; children Margie Castoreno Valadez (Steven Valadez), Rosemary Castoreno M.D. ( Sean Daly), Nora Castoreno (Adolph Rodriguez), Oscar Castoreno Jr., and Paul Albert Castoreno ( Stephanie Garcia); Sisters Lydia (John Carlos Perco) and Linda Marin, Brother Roy (Rosemarie), numerous nieces/nephews, and the pride, joy and loves of his life, his 13 grandchildren (Jasmine Marie Rodriguez, Oscar Jaime Castoreno, Stephanie Yolanda Valadez, Serena Torres, Teresa Castoreno, Cuauhtemoc Daly, Donovan M Roriguez, Laness Castoreno, Isaiah Rodriguez, Citlali Daly, Daniella Rodriguez, Evangelina Bella Castoreno and Sophia Oscar Castoreno ) He is preceded in death by his parents,Solio Castoreno Sr. and Dora Ariza Castoreno and brothers Solio, Enrique, Guillermo, Jimmy and Arturo, Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM on Sunday, February 5, 2023 at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South with a Rosary recited at 7:00PM. Funeral Mass will be offered at 10:00AM on Monday, February 6, 2023 at San Fernando Cathedral with interment to follow at Mission Burial Park South. Thank you Dad for all you have done for us.
