Beloved matriarch of her extended San Antonio family, Palmira or Polly enjoyed 92 years on this earth filled with love, laughter, family & friends! She was born to Florin Cantu Sanchez and Lottie Marie Bowles in Kerrville, TX Palmira was preceded in death by all of her siblings: Florin Sanchez, Filomena (Mae) Guerra, Leonora Solis, Minerva Garza and Hermelinda Olivares. She is also preceded by her oldest stepson, Johnny Ramirez, Jr., and continued to enjoy meals and fun times with his wife, Olga. Palmira was a petite but Spunky Spitfire who energetically raised her seven rambunctious children in San Antonio with tenaciousness and love: Alex Deleon (Gloria), Margie Pacheco (Gene), Joseph Ramírez (Esther), Francis Raymond Ramírez (Jo Ann), John Ramírez III (Margaret), Agnes Ramirez Dandridge (Martin) and Goldie Marie Holmes (deceased). She was also extremely proud to call John Mounce (Kim) her stepson. A cherished grandmother to 24 grandchildren who all inherited her spirited nature: Arthur Ramirez, Anthony Ramirez, Alfred Ramirez, Albert Ramirez, Andrew Ramirez, Monica Garza, Valerie Sandoval, Roland Pacheco, Michael Pacheco, Annalisa Pacheco, Melissa Guerra, Veronica Ramirez, Joseph Ramirez, Jr., Johnny Noyola, Alex Ramirez, Austin Ramirez, John Ramirez IV, Jessica Ramirez, Charlie Holmes, Bill Holmes, Allen Holmes, Thomas Holmes, Polly Sanchez and Natalie Mounce. She was also a great grandmother of 36 and a great great grandmother of 10. Palmira loved to volunteer and give back to the greater San Antonio community. She served in many School Board PTAs as President and other positions as she watched her children grow throughout their formative school years. She gave of her generous time at the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 8541 for over 25 years where she served in numerous positions including President from 1985 to 1986. An loyal supporter of American Legion Post 592 Ladies Auxiliary for many years and she held several positions including President where she made wonderful friends and created beautiful memories throughout her many years of participation. An avid traveler, Polly’s positive attitude and contagious spirit of ADVENTURE were easily summarized by her trademark cry “I’m ready, Let’s go!” as she toured Germany, Italy, Spain and Austria with gusto and enthusiasm. During her month in Hawaii, her sweet, and outgoing personality charmed the locals and instantly became known as “Cuz”. In recent years, she generously took all of her children and spouses on several cruises where the precious memories made will continue to bring smiles for years to come. Last year she went on her final trip to Florida and enjoyed lunch with her Favorite Boyfriend, Mickey. Her vibrant and engaging nature, infectious laughter, and indomitable spirit will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her.
