Patricia Alexander, 88, entered her eternal home on June 29, 2026. She was born on June 19, 1938 to Frank and Margaret Whatley Stendebach in Rock Springs, Texas. She is survived by her son, Gary Guess, daughter, Sarah Orr, husband, Kenneth, son, Lee Alexander, wife, Jacqueline, Grandchildren, Joshua Orr, wife Christin, Jacob Orr, Ava Alexander and Zoe Alexander, Great-grandchildren, Ryan Orr, Emily Orr, and Benjamin Orr, her sister, Eloise Lindemann and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Paul Guess, second husband, Melvin Alexander, and brother Bill Stendebach. Patricia married the love of her life, Paul Guess, in 1960 after she graduated from Mary-Hardin Baylor College with a Home Economics degree. He tragically succumbed to cancer in 1964. She raised her son, Gary, and daughter Sarah (Sarah Beth) alone until she met and married Melvin Alexander. A year later Lee was born. They were married over 40 years. Patricia was a strong woman of faith, giving her time to serve in every church she was a member of as well as being involved at the San Antonio Baptist Association level, serving on committees and volunteering to serve meals to medical students at the Health Science Center. She taught kindergarten at South San Antonio Baptist Church for several years when Gary and Sarah were young, including teaching both of them. She served as Sunday School Secretary and Vacation Bible School director for many years. She served on the bus ministry and later drove senior adults to various activities including camp at Alto Frio Baptist Encampment each Fall and Spring. Patricia also served in a variety of roles at Palm Heights Baptist Church. At Southeast Baptist Church she served as Sunday School Director for several years. She was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star, joining along with her mother at South San Chapter, then Harlandale Chapter, and finally at Floresville Chapter. She enjoyed the privilege of serving as Worthy Matron with her husband, Melvin, many time. She would spend many evenings visiting other chapters in the San Antonio area. She was also honored to serve as Grand Representative to North Dakota. She loved to live in San Antonio, but in her latter years lived at the Texas Masonic Retirement Community in Arlington, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association, the Masonic Home and School of Texas, which provides financial help to residents of the Texas Masonic Retirement Community.
