Patti Austin, beloved wife, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in San Antonio, Texas. She was a remarkable individual whose life was characterized by dedication, service, and love. Born in an era of change, Patti embraced every opportunity to better herself and those around her. Patti was married to her soulmate, Malcolm M. Austin, for an extraordinary 65 years. Their marriage was a testament to enduring love and partnership, a source of inspiration to all who knew them. Together, they built a life filled with joy and mutual respect, creating countless cherished memories along the way. A proud alumna of The University of Texas at San Antonio, Patti excelled academically, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1986 with a perfect 4.0 GPA. Her leadership skills were evident early on as she served as President of Beta Gamma Sigma in 1985. Patti's academic achievements laid the foundation for a successful career in accounting, earning her CPA designation in 1988. Patti embarked on a fulfilling career with the Internal Revenue Service in 1986, where she worked diligently for 22 years before retiring in 2008. Her career was marked by dedication and multiple promotions, reflecting her commitment to excellence and integrity in her professional life. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Patti was deeply committed to her community. She was an active member of St. Marks Methodist Church, where she volunteered tirelessly for many years. Her positive attitude and caring nature endeared her to many, leaving a lasting impact on everyone she encountered. Patti loved to travel and cherished the time spent with her sister, Tom, her niece Sharon, and her extended family, including Fred, Brianne, Brooke, and Braden. She enjoyed the company of her long-time friends Velma and BJ Alvarado, along with many other close friends who enriched her life. Her family and friends will gather to celebrate Patti's life with a viewing at Mission Park at Cherry Ridge, 3401 Cherry Ridge Dr, San Antonio, TX 78230, on September 7th from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A burial service will follow on Monday, September 8th at 10:00 am at Mission North, 20900 IH 10W, San Antonio, TX 78257. Patti Austin, your memory will be kept alive, and your impact will continue to be felt. We love you and will forever cherish the joy and kindness you brought into our lives.
