My beautiful, sweet, and loving mama, Patricia Dufner embarked on her journey to Heaven on Wednesday August 30, 2023, at the age of 79. I have peace knowing her pain and suffering has been replaced with tranquility and harmony. She is reunited with daddy, Romie Mark Dufner, her beloved husband of 58 years and my only sister Natalie Annette Dufner, favorite uncle Dr. Larry Goldbeck, all my grandparents and several cherished family members. She was born on January 9, 1944, to Edward Lyman Goldbeck Sr. and Virginia Rutledge Goldbeck in San Antonio, Texas. She is survived by me, Valerie Dufner Lof, cherished grandchildren Romie Mark Lof, Delton Timothy Lof and Darcy Elizabeth Lof, Brother Eddie "Bubba" Goldbeck, Jr. and wife Sally Jones Goldbeck, Sister Jacque Goldbeck Christal and husband Howard Lee Christal, sister Debi Goldbeck Farris (predeceased Cannon “Chip” Farris), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who she truly adored. Patte was in Rainbow Girls. She graduated from Highlands High School in 1961 and was in pep squad, cheerleading and numerous clubs all throughout high school. During her senior year she was elected “Sweetheart of the Blue Star Assembly” along with her brother Eddie Goldbeck Jr. for the ensuing year. It was the first time this honor was shared by a brother and sister. She eloped and married the love of her life, my daddy, with whom she had known since she was four years old; they were the best of friends. She was my Brownie and Girl Scout leader. She was an incredible tennis player. She had enough trophies to fill an entire room. She volunteered for numerous charities and philanthropic events where she met some amazing life-long friends. Patte and Romie traveled the world with many of our family and friends over the years. They were lucky enough to get to fly on The Concord. They went to three of the four “Grand Slam” tournaments. In 1977 they started a finance business together and worked until daddy passed four years ago in 2019. She was full of knowledge; we all felt like she knew everything, she was like a walking Encyclopedia. There was never a question we asked that she didn’t know how to answer. She loved working on her puzzles and her favorite was Sudoku. She loved to learn and always said “nobody knows everything, you are never too old to learn.” She was so beautiful inside and out, often times people would come up to her and admire her beauty. We would like to give a special thanks to “Louisa” Amelia Lopez, for her years of love, dedication, and support. I could have never kept her at home throughout this without you. To the numerous Doctors that have helped along the way, thank you for your care, compassion and love. Thank you to her Primary Care Physician Dr. Michelle Aliotta, she has been her doctor since she was diagnosed and helped me navigate these last four years to give her the best care possible. We would also like to thank Dr. Chinthaka Bulathsinghala, her Pulmonologist and her nurse Anna with Axis Home Health. Thank you to the Fire Department and EMS that made numerous trips to our house. They showed amazing compassion, love and support to my mama and me. A special thank you to the I.C.U. staff at Northeast Baptist Hospital of which includes Dr. Simpson and Dr. Sanchez, the nurses: Valentine, Andy, Will, Mark, Gaylon; respiratory therapist Travis, Bryan, and Madyson as well as Chaplain Ismael. In appreciation, we would like to show our gratitude for the All-Seasons Hospice staff Christine R.N. and Leigh L.M.S.W. I apologize to anyone that I may have left out. If you were close to us, I pray that you know how much you meant to us.
