Tributes

Born in Yorktown, Texas, Paul grew up near Garfield, Texas, riding a Shetland pony to a school in a two room schoolhouse, where he first met his future wife Valeria. After attending Holy Cross High School in Yorktown he continued to help with the family farm, then joined the Army at the age of 19. Just after WWII, his service to his country included 9 months in Japan. He returned to San Antonio to begin his 40+ year career in sales with the Straus-Frank Company. He married Valeria in 1948 while still in San Antonio. They moved to Corpus Christi in 1958, then returned to San Antonio after 10 years, where they remained together for another 53 years. As his job as a salesman in South Texas required many hours of travel by car, he also transported his own children and many others to school, sports, and extracurricular activities. He was very active in the Knights of Columbus, becoming a Fourth Degree member. Later he enjoyed RVing with Valeria and gaining many more enduring friendships. He liked to stay busy, whether it was fixing things to last a little bit longer, craftwork together with his wife Valeria, or the manicured yard in which he took pride. Paul will be remembered as devoted husband and father dedicated to the support of his family. His easygoing manner and sense of humor endeared him to everyone he met. Paul departed from us peacefully on February 10, 2023 at the age of 95. He is preceded in death by his wife of over 73 years Valeria, and parents Joseph and Elsa Kozielski. He is survived by children Mark Kozielski (Susan), Gary Kozielski (Gail), and Marsha Miller (David); brother Joe Kozielski (Lillian); grandchildren Kimberly (Richard), Stephen, Michael (Amelia), Amanda (Sean), Morgan (Devyn), and Hannah (Riley); great-grandchildren Ethan, Jonah, Bennett, Carson, Kolby, Daniel, Nathanael, Mason, Alexander, and Hunter; nephews Ronnie, John, Brian, Michael, and Matthew; nieces Patty, Sharon, Veronica, Kathy, Danielle, and Jennifer; and many great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Mission Park North February 28, 2023 starting at 6:00 PM. Rosary will be at 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be at St. Matthew's Catholic Church March 1, 2023 at 10:30 AM. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in San Antonio and reception will follow at the church.
