Peggy Mae Potter Krcha was born on January 6, 1934 in San Antonio, Texas. She passed away on July 4, 2026 at the age of 92. She was the oldest of 5 children. She is preceded in death by her parents, Bertie Carlyn Potter, Sr. and Theresa Yecker Potter; her husband, C.J. “Tex” Krcha; and her siblings, Shirley Coggeshall, Bertie Carlyn Potter, Jr., Donald Lee Potter, and Dianne Lindsey Korenek. She is survived by her children Boyd Ray Krcha (Pam), Judy Krcha Mauldin (Johnny), grandchildren Kristin Krcha Cunningham (Ryan), Justin Blake Krcha, Jessica Lynn Mauldin (Sean), John Michael Mauldin (Emily), and Jennifer Kathleen Mensik [Paul]; great grandchildren (oldest to youngest) Hailey Elisabeth Mauldin, Connor Jay Mensik, Brennen Ray Cunningham, Claire Taylor Mauldin, Briggs Johnny Krcha, Colton Jeremiah Krcha, James Ray Mauldin, John Bub Mauldin, Cooper Nathaniel Krcha, Hannah Louise Mauldin, Brooklyn Kate Mauldin; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. Growing up, Peggy attended Mackey and Culebra schools, and was in the 2nd graduating class at Northside HS (now John Marshall HS). Peggy was athletic and grew up playing baseball/softball for the church league, then later played on teams sponsored by Pepsi and Coke. She continued playing until she was expecting her first child. Peggy married the love of her life, “Tex” Krcha, on April 20, 1954. Tex was self-employed, owning an air conditioning/heating business, and Peggy worked in the office while they were raising their 2 children. Both had a strong faith in God and served in many capacities at Zion Lutheran Church. Most memorable for Boyd and Judy was Tex and Peggy’s time as the Luther-league Youth Group Sponsors, because they were included on all of the outings (and in all plans because Tex often said, “If our children can’t go, then we won’t go.”). When Tex built a vacation house at Canyon Lake, and the family began spending weekends there, they helped establish and “literally built” St. Andrew Lutheran Church. They first began meeting in the pastor’s home before the church was erected (with the help of many volunteers). It was important to them that they continue their worship wherever they were. Tex passed away on October 20, 1981. Peggy lived alone for the remainder of her life, never believing anyone could hold a candle to Tex. She stayed involved with the church, serving on committees, and kept in touch with her longtime childhood friends. She was a wealth of knowledge and remembered details about the families and history of the area. Peggy enjoyed an active life, always “on the go” prior to her health issues. On March 20, 2023 (age 89), Peggy suffered a stroke, leaving her with paralysis on her left side, in May of 2024 (age 90) she was diagnosed with liver cancer and began chemo treatments, and on Sept.1, 2024 (age 90), she suffered a broken femur requiring her to undergo surgery to place a rod & pins. Throughout each challenge, Peggy remained positive and worked through her pain trying to overcome the limitations. She continually thanked those that cared for her and apologized for needing help. She had a strong will to live and fully intended to regain her independence. She never gave up or succumbed to difficulties. Peggy loved traveling with friends and family, holidays, and especially watching sports/activities of her children, grandchildren, and greatgrandchildren. She was a Spurs fan, enjoyed watching college football/baseball, and rooted for both the Texas Longhorns and Texas Aggies. Peggy spent her life giving to others, loving her friends and family, and providing support to those in need. Her faith remained strong to the end. Our family believes in angels on earth. The Hospice nurse, “Chris”, her caregiver, “Love”, and the assisted living director, “Amanda”, were brought into our lives by God. There are no words to express our gratefulness for the loving care they showed mother. The assisted living owners, “Peter and Christina”, are true examples of people who followed their calling, and genuinely love, care, and comfort the aging. The Funeral Service will be held Friday, July 17, 2026 at 11am at Zion Lutheran Church; 9944 Leslie Rd, Helotes, Tx. 78023 (Visitation is at 10:30am prior to the service). A Reception will follow the funeral service in the church Fellowship Hall. The burial will immediately follow the reception at 2:00pm located at Mission Burial Park North Cemetery Dominion ; 20900 IH 10 West, San Antonio, Tx. 78257 .
