Pete Minjarez Ramirez, Jr. was born on July 29, 1955 in Lebanon, Indiana. Pete was called home on April 20, 2021 by Jesus Christ to Eternal Life and was reunited with his Mom, Guillerma Minjarez Ramirez. Pete is loved and will greatly be missed by his Dad, Pete Ramirez, Sr.; Daughter Selena Joy Ramirez (Corey Hough) his Granddaughters, Addison Brooke Wright and Aubrey Brienne Wright; Sisters Mercedes Oeffinger (Kenneth Oeffinger), Leticia Flores (Johnny Flores) and Corinne Ramirez; Brothers Rene Ramirez, Daniel Ramirez and his Nieces and Nephews. Pete graduated from Harlandale High School in 1973. He played the french horn in the school band. Pete joined the United States Navy straight out of high school where he worked as a mail clerk. After he served, he attended Southwest Texas State University where he received three degrees. Pete then worked as an aircraft mechanic at Kelly Air Force Base and after that, he was a Boxing Coach at San Fernando Gym. His strong work ethic, dedication and fun personality made the workday better. Pete adored his only daughter and loved his granddaughters very much as they were his pride and joy and he will forever watch over them. He had many friends and family who he loved unconditionally; he had the biggest heart and made sure to make everyone’s day extra special by always reaching out to everyone on their birthdays. Pete was easy to love. No one was a stranger to him; the first time you met him, you felt like you knew him for years because of his big personality. Every year Pete and his buddies from elementary and junior high would get together and play poker and reminisce about the good ole days. Pete coached a men’s softball team named San Antonio Lobos where he made many memories at local games and traveling for tournaments. His love for music was everlasting; his favorite show was The Voice. Pete enjoyed attending concerts and humming to his favorite songs. He loved the San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Cowboys and always kept his dad and daughter up to date on the score. Pete had a funny saying “Dig it” when he would get a front row parking space, when his favorite tv show, movie or song would come on or anything that made him happy. He will forever be in our hearts with his unforgettable smile, laugh, kindness and generosity. We love you forever dad. Visitation will be held on May 20th at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South, 1700 S.E. Military Drive, San Antonio, Texas 78214 from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm with the Rosary to begin at 6:30 pm. Funeral Mass will be held on May 21st at St. Philip of Jesus, 142 E. Lambert Street, San Antonio, Texas 78204 at 9:00 am and will conclude with a procession back to the funeral home. A second procession will depart Mission Park Funeral Chapels South at 1:00 pm to Fort Sam Houston, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd. San Antonio, TX 78209 for a committal service at 1:30 pm with Military Honors. Fort Sam is still under covid restrictions, therefore it is limited to 50 attendees and everyone must wear a mask. Flowers and plants are welcome to be sent to Mission Park Funeral Chapels South on May 20th.
