Petra Orozco Turgeon, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 16th, 2025, with her loving husband by her side, at the age of 85. Born on April 5th, 1940, In the city of Delicias, Chihuahua, Mexico. She was the daughter of Mary Mercado-O’leal, and grew up in El Paso, Texas. Petra graduated from Ysleta High and was a proud Indian. She is preceded in death by Mother, Mary Mercado-O’leal, and her brothers, Santiago Orozco, Rueben Orozco and Jesus Orozco. Throughout her life, Petra was a source of unwavering love, strength, and guidance to her family and friends. She married Lawrence L. Turgeon on August 11, 1962, and together they built a life filled with love and cherished memories. They raised four beautiful children: Lawrence L. Turgeon Jr. (Rebecca), Jacqueline J.T Galindo (Anthony), Melissa M. Turgeon, and Wilbur W. Turgeon (Merosa), who will forever be grateful for her love and support. In addition to her children, Petra is survived by 13 grandchildren, 17 great- grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends who were touched by her warmth and kindness. Petra had a passion for caring for all children. She was a momma patrol for Agnes Cotton elementary school, a Special Ed Aide at Cardenas Elementary and a multitude of other schools, she was also known as mother of the neighborhood. Petra’s greatest joy was her family. She dedicated her life to caring for and raising her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed dancing and singing with her husband and family. Her deep faith and dedication to God was a cornerstone of her life. Her faith not only guided her but also inspired those around her to live with compassion, kindness and integrity. As we say goodbye, let us remember the profound blessing of having been loved by such an extraordinary woman. Let us carry forward her values, cherish her memory and honor her by living with kindness, strength and purpose. A funeral service to honor and celebrate Petra’s life will be held at Mission Park Funeral Chapels Medical Center, located at 8332 Fredericksburg Rd, San Antonio, Tx, 78229. Rosary will be held Sunday September 28th, 2025. Viewing is from 5pm-6pm, with rosary following right after. Mass to be held at St. Ann’s Catholic Church on Monday September 29th, 2025, at 12 pm. Followed by funeral procession to Ft. Sam Houston. Friends and family are invited to attend to pay their respects and share their memories. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Petra’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, which is close to the family’s heart.
