Rachel Ramirez Martinez left this world peacefully on December 13, 2023, in San Antonio, Texas. She was an incredible mother, wife, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. Rachel was born on October 25, 1954, in San Antonio, to Joe Celestino Ramirez and Concepcion Perez Ramirez. Rachel attended Burbank high school and earned a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Education from Wayland Baptist University. Rachel is survived by her loving husband and best friend of 55 years, Enrique Martinez. Rachel met Enrique in 1968 while shopping with her family at Wah Young’s grocery store in their southside neighborhood. Rachel & Enrique went on to marry in December 1978 and recently celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary. Their love and friendship knew no bounds and they could always be found endlessly laughing or telling each other a story they’ve told a thousand times before. Their love is a true forever love. Rachel had a deep love and passion for music, entertaining, crafting and the arts. Throughout high school she performed in many local talent shows with her brothers and sisters, dancing & singing in outfits she sewed herself. Rachel loved creating. Along with sewing outfits for her daughters, she went on to create and sell custom aprons. She could always be found drawing, painting, sketching or doodling love notes. Rachel was a master at many things and went on to establish a strong career working for several San Antonio legacy establishments, including the Bexar County Medical Society, American Diabetes Association, USAA (for 20 years) & the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. While working full time, raising her children and being a wife Rachel also found time to continue her education, and volunteer for many organizations & projects, including AVANCE, USAA Hispanic Heritage Committee, Toastmasters, and Habitat for Humanity just to name a few. Rachel loved her family fiercely and she would do everything possible to uplift and advocate for the life education of her children Sandra, and Elizabeth. She wanted them to know just how big this world is, and they went out into it bravely with her unwavering support. Rachel joined in on many travel adventures with her daughters and always found a way to visit every city and place they ever lived in. They will continue to carry her luminous spirit with them. Rachel’s limitless love always included her brothers and sisters, as she was the oldest and served as a 2nd mom to each of them. She spoke to all of them almost daily throughout her life as if they never left each other’s sides from their childhood home on Teresa Street all those years ago. Rachel was preceded in death by her mother, father, her brother, Dominic Ramirez and beloved dog, Duncan. She is survived by her loving husband and partner of 45 years, Enrique Martinez; on earth remaining, her daughters, Sandra Martinez (Francis Bondy), Elizabeth Boone (Albert); sisters, Regina Cerna (Manny), Faith Adame (Rudy), Lillian Sanchez (Leroy), Joann Watson and Brenda Lopez; brothers, John Ramirez, Homer Ramirez (Pat); numerous nieces and nephews and new to this world baby grandson, Fischer Akai Boone. Rachel was a beautiful lifeforce. Her light warmed every single person around her. Rachel is so loved and will be deeply missed. We will do all we can to celebrate her inspirational life and honor her legacy. SERVICES Visitation will begin on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at 8:00am, followed by a Celebration Of Life service at 8:30AM at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North. Interment will follow at Ft.
