Raymond W. Sultenfuss, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2013 at the age of 84. Born on January 24, 1929 in Center Point, Texas to Frank and Pauline Sultenfuss, the second youngest of nine children he is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Norman, Leon, Henry, BJ, Frank Jr., Vernon; and only sister, Florence Wheeler. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 63 years, Frances; five children, Patricia Paul Rudloff; Ramona Ron Klein; Douglas Sheryl Sultenfuss; Cheryl Robert Adamson; and Mary David Schmidt; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; brother, Ted and numerous nieces and nephews. Raymond and Frances moved to San Antonio in 1950 where Raymond worked for Rainbow Bakery for many years. He then joined Curtis Candy Co and soon started his own candy distribution company that he enjoyed for more than thirteen years. After selling his candy business, he became an agent and supervisor for the Grand Lodge of Sons of Hermann until he retired in 1994. Raymond was a charter member of St. Margaret Mary's Catholic Church where he remained an active member until his death. His service to the church and the school included starting the CYO program, teaching youth Catechism, and founding member of the Men's Club and Double Ring Club. He also served on the church pastoral council and was a member of the Knights of Council 4315. Raymond loved the church and received the Archbishop Francis Furey award in recognition of exceptional service to the Catholic Church and to the community. In 2012, he received the outstanding service award for his service to the school. Raymond and Francis delivered Meals on Wheels for 16 years, delivering meals twice a week to shut ins. In addition, Raymond was past President of Harmonia Lodge #1 and received multiple Humanitarian service awards from the Order of the Sons of Hermann. Raymond was an avid hunter and fisherman; gardener; and was well known for his barbecue, skills which he readily passed on to his children and grandchildren. He had a great love of family and especially loved the large family gathering at Christmas. After a long battle with cancer, it was the family's hope that Raymond could be cared for at his home of 63 years until his death and wish to thank his doctors, and the wonderful staff of Vitas Hospice Care, AA Care Services, and Adventia Healthcare for their services that made it possible. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes a donation be made to St. Margaret Mary Capital Campaign Fund, Meals on Wheels, and St. Margaret Mary's Vincent de Paul. Services Visitation will begin at 6:30 pm Thursday, October 10, 2013 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church with the Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 am Friday, October 11, 2013 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery Mausoleum.
