On July 22, 2023, Rebecca E. (Lance) Saltsman, better known as Buffy, passed into the arms of her Savior and big brother from her home. Despite her small stature, she was a spiritual giant of a lady. Cancer overcame her body, but not her spirit; she faced the imminent with the grace and faith that came from our Savior and Lord. Although prayers for healing the cancer were not answered as we desired, the prayers that she would finish her race strong in her faith were bountifully answered. She epitomized the traits of several biblical women: Sacrificed like Esther, Loved like Ruth, Served like Martha, Prayed like Hannah, Believed like Mary, and now Dances like Miriam. Although we are grieving the sting of her departure, our foundation of joy is still undiminished about God and His faithfulness to us. We pray that Jesus greeted her, "Well, done, my good and faithful servant!" She loved fiercely and loved God, her family, and friends more than we knew and in that order. With her crafting passion, she loved to make things for others and to share with those around her. She shared of her life in the many places she lived due to her husband's career: AK (2), CA, TX (3), MD, GA (2), AZ. She made her last earthly home in San Antonio, TX, with her family. After 56 years and 6 days on this earth, she left behind Shawn Saltsman, her husband of 36 years, and their 13 children: Jackylyn Owens, Jessica Parker, Jamie, Jocylyn, Jennae, Jonni, Jason, Joelle, James, Jaelyn, Jadyn, Josephine, and Samuel. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond E. and Wanda (Lowe) Lance, and one brother, Matthew. She is also survived by her 3 brothers: Raymond, Luke, and Gabriel. She leaves behind a legacy of faith also for her 8 grandchildren: Sophia and Marceline Gill; Riley, Cailin, and Nolan Parker; and Gideon, Alliandra, and Evadne Owens. The Celebration of Life in her honor is planned for 10:00 AM on August 12, 2023, at Oak Hills Christian Church Westside Fellowship, 321 N. General McMullen Dr, San Antonio, TX 78237. The service for her inurnment at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery will be held at at a later date.
